It briefly starts to sync after a minute...but stops without actually syncing and shows "Up to Date" again...even though it isn't. Things have been strange with PHS for a couple days now and I feel like it's been a bit neglected -- guess we'll see.

I have the same experience.  My hunch is that the pool did not update to the v1.2 client and is on the old/wrong fork.

Im pretty sure i have the latest version, but just in case i will be pausing the pool, deleting my local block chain and redownloading it, just to be safe that the pool has not forked.
Will be back ASAP!

add nodes above and make sure you have more than 7-8 connections on philstoned, 50+ if possible, seems like the pool takes hours to find blocks with 90% of the hashrate so something is wrong (after this other problem o course)

Ok, i cannot sync, i have latest version with the nodes listed above.
I get a few orphan logs and complains about invalid stakes, and then this:

I would connect directly to one of the Dev's nodes with "connect" instead of "addnode" until you are synced.  Could try "repairwallet" maybe for those errors.
