New rig. first amd system ever. 6 rx 580's windows 10 pro, msi z270 ssame board I use on NVidia 6 rigs, latest driver, switch to compute mode. What could be the problem? Driver says in compute mode should be able to run 12 cards.

Ive had this problem it was just a loose power cable.  Try unplugging them all and then plug them in one by one.

I wish it was that simple. I can unplugg any of them in random order and still only 4.

Can you not give us some more info? What setup are you running? What PSU do you have and he are they connected? You are using powered risers? What sort of voltage are you passing through your gpus? Are they OC? Under volted? Are you 100% sure they all running the same drivers? Same brand of gpu? Give us some more info and maybe someone can help you out better.

Yes 16000 and 32000. I have remove the asus cards and just was going to do 4 cards. So I setup it up from 1-4 slots. loaded windows only showed 2 cards. Moved the cards rom 2 and 3 down to 5 and 6 and now showing 4 cards again. for some reason slots 2 and 3 do not like cards installed there. that's the problem I'm not sure what the fix is. Maybe the gaming m3 can't load cards in those slots. the m5 loves 6 cards been running 30 days no problem. same with the sli plus model.

I have tried gen 1 and 4g on no change. I'm going to shut down all usb's and extra items on the board and see if that changes anything. If not I have done everything posted here today with no change. Also can u get video out when u use risers for mining from the gpus or only on the intel chip?

So you've swapped cards and risers in and out and made sure all of the cards and all of the risers are functional on their own, correct?  I had a similiar issue with one rig that didn't have up to date bios.  I also had one card missing in device manager the other night on a Nvidia rig build and finally figured out the usb cable to the riser was not seated properly.

If they all function one by one, make sure all of your pcie mb slots are functioning as well.  Check your motherboard bios first though, if you haven't already.  It needs to be up to date.

Yes, you should get video out of the card that's in the #1 pcie slot whether you are using a riser or not.  I think you can force igpu in the bios with that board though, so you can just use that while you're configuring the rig.  I have two rigs running with that board and one won't boot without the dummy hdmi in the card plugged into #1 pcie slot, but I found a setting in the bios to force igpu on the second one.  I just haven't had time to shut the other one down and try that same setting in the bios on my first rig.

I give up. I'm just going to run two 4 card rx 580's and that will be he only amd miners I have. Nvidia drivers and cards just work. Even in the new amd adrenalin drivers I have no clue if the compute mode really works or not. U put card one in compute but the other cards will not switch over to compute mode in there settings. They just switch back to graphics.

I'm using the AUG-23 blockchain drivers all my AMD rig.  Is that what you're using?

I don't think you really need to wipe your hdd and re-install the OS.  Use DDU in safe mode and remove the current drivers.  And then try the Aug-23 block chain drivers.  You did make sure that Z270 has the latest bios, correct?

Yep has the latest bios. Bios update is the first thing I do before os install. With the 4 cards in the system and all it does is load the mpm benchmark and hard locks the system. I wonder if my cpu is bad. When i first  put this one together i had corsair hx1000i that broke 45 seconds on. After that i sent it in for warranty and installed a seasonic 850w. This is also the second motherboard. i haven't changed out the cpu or memory yet. I have not overclocked this cpu at all.

My NVidia system is doing the same shit now. I have a gtx 1080 system and when it has 4 cards runs solid. I can't overclock it and never shuts off. when I add the 5th card and set everything to base settings I start the miner go to benchmark it and hard lock. I have to shut it down and start over. Computer runs fine until I start a miner any miner. any idea's
