Am obsessed with the idea of having a new Physical or Virtual Country with Bitcoin as national currency somewhere on International Water or the Internet. Stuff like  biometric registration, voting, and other types of data collection  will be on open Blockchain. The new country would by far be the most transparent and sustainable country on the planet. Software that runs it will be open source.
The new Country would be programned to run automatically, with little human intervention. for instance:  if you want some homes, just register online, pay and the home will be yours. If you want to be a leader, just apply, computer algorithm will prune down the list of applicants on merit. The final list will go for National elections which will be decided by citizens. Leadership in the country will be somewhat ceremonial since there would be little need for human leadership as most things are automated.

Wonder if this is legal(building on International Water by anyone) and whether other countries would be allowed to trade with the new country.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I've heard that there have already been such attempt. Have you ever heard about Liberland?) me neither. But that's exactly the country's which planned to set all the government operations on blockchain. The blockchain was supposed to be the one of the upcoming ICOs UNIVERSA blockchain https://www7.universa.io
But they didn't include Liberland in their new WP, so I doubt whether it is still true  Huh

Biggest and hardest thing is where or how to get a country? All land currently already belong to some country. And all countries are bad at sharing their land. All of them will fight for their land. And sort of all are stronger then you are.   Easier way would be if you get a hold for nuclear bomb. Then I am sure you will be listened and your country fast recognized in UN.  Funny haircut president will probably fast tarted tweeting with you.

With enough money you can purchase whatever you want, legal or not. I'm sure with enough "donations" to prominent politicians you could have it made legal as well, if you were so inclined.

Aragon (already launched altcoin) is a virtual jurisdiction.

Plus, bitcoin Jesus is in negotiations with several governments to gain a land lease in which to build a physical libertarian country.

As far as finance goes, the decentralized libertarian anarcho-capitalist future is already here. Most of the world just doesn't realize it yet.  Grin

According to the fact, that crypto currency has already been entered as a discipline in a number of universities , and the topic of crypto regulation is one of the most relevant so far, everything is going exactly towards described concept of trade relations between the countries in the nearest future.

Now it sounds very futuristic, but I like it) Such a crypto-state. Someday possible. Still, experience shows that more and more government agencies and services are implemented on the Internet. Even preliminary elections in some countries are conducted with the help of websites (and sometimes even more attendance). So who knows ..

Interestingly, if one of the conditions for the establishment and recognition of a new country is the existence of its own land, does this mean that this land should be on Earth? We could create a new remote country, for example, having become attached to a certain planet in another universe. Yes, physically there would have been no one living there, but what does it matter, the main thing is that officially the new country will have its own land Smiley

It's a nice idea...  Just in a few months a movie would be announced by Hollywood soon or maybe Bollywood...

The world is truly getting to the "Global Village "

Sounds very interesting. A kind of a virtual world where life is truly decentralized with government fully decentralized too. I think Neverdie (NDC) project which concluded its ICO some months ago aimed at building such a world powered by blockchain with NDC as the currency of value.

I heard a county is planning to have a voting system on ethereum blockchain. If they are successful in doing that it will be a welcome development to crypto space and blockchain technology.
