Not all of us can jump right in and start buying the latest and greatest video card, especially in a situation where you want to use 6 of them. After a couple of weeks of research the following is what I decided to go with based on price, power consumption and hash rate to build my 6 GPU mining rig. The primary goal of this mining rig is to mine Monero.

Motherboard: Asrock H110 Pro BTC
Processor: Intel Celeron G3900
Memory: Kingston Technology KVR21N15S8/4 ValueRAM 4GB 2133MHz DDR4
Power Supply: EVGA 1000 GQ, 80+ Gold 1000W 210-GQ-1000-V1
Hard Drive: Kingston Digital, Inc. 120GB A400
Video Cards: Nvidia EVGA GTX 1060 Gaming SC 6GB
Adapters: MintCell 6-Pack PCIe 4-Pin MOLEX PCI-E 16x to 1x Powered Riser Adapter Card (x2)

P. S.
I have possibility to mine without power costs.

6 GPU Rig: $2,237
Monero: 2580 h/s

BTC donation is acceptable.(all donators will be refunded x10 at least)

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

If you want to mine Monero you can buy cheap RX 570 Sappire Pulse cards, you can mod the bios easily and the hashrate will be 4800-4950 h/s compared to the shameful 2580 h/s that Nvidia 1060 are offering. You need only to add about 500-600 USD more but in the long run as you see it will make you double the amount monthly of what the Nvidia are doing.

Everybody has power costs.  And you'll increase those costs noticeably with a rig like that.  Bear that in mind.

The best hash/cost average for XMR will be with used HD 7XXX cards, especially if you have cheap power costs. The cards for a six card rig should be $400> and get 3000+ H/s on XMR. I get ~515 H/s @ 105 W on XMR with a Powercolor HD 7850 and ~195 H/s on ZEC for ~140 W with the AMD blockchain drivers.

And what about overheating? There is no need of additional cooling?

Cryptonight mining doesn't heat up the cards as much as other algorithms like Equihash. With a six card rig you shouldn't need additional cooling if you have a room with good ventilation. If it's in a closet or other small space, you may need to run some box fans to increase the air circulation.

I have 10m2 room with constant 15°C temperature. I think it's very good enough.
