Hello all,
I have tried a lot of options that people have been suggesting all over the Internet with no luck...
I have managed to get the system booting windows when the GPU is NOT connected. The moment I connect it up the system won't boot. I have the HDMI plugged into the GPU when booting with GPU. I actually did manage to get it to boot once (don't ask me how) after removing the powered riser and attaching the GPU directly to the motherboard, were I was able to install the drivers etc, I restarted the computer as the fans weren't spinning on the GPU (I wanted to double check they worked). The moment it tried to re-start it failed to boot.
I have tried switching around the different power loads into different places. I am powering the GPU with a 6+2pin (turning it to an 8pin), and a second 6pin as it requires both connectors?
The ram I believe works fine as when I load up without the GPU it works fine, fast and shows 4gb of ram installed.
Any help of advice would be greatly appreciated, I have been fiddling for a good few days. Also I've noticed when the gpu is connected to the motherboard that my wired mouse and keyboard don't seem to have stable power, for instance the mouse's infrared dot isn't on, when I unplug it and plug it back it it goes red for a short second and the keyboard 'caps' lock etc won't work.
My motherboard is: ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 S1150 Intel H81 2x DDR3 Motherboard - Grey
My Ram is: Kingston KVR16N11S8/4 RAM 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM 240-Pin, 1.5 V Memory Module
My GPU is: SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 570 NITRO+ 8 GB GDDR5 2xDP/2xHDMI/DVI-D Graphics Card - Black
My PSU is: Corsair CP-9020098-UK VS Series ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Power Supply Unit, 650 W
My CPU is: Intel BX80646I34170 - Core i3 (4170) 3.7GHz Processor 3MB L3 Cache 5GT/s Bus Speed
Many thanks,
Tim

Try to change your PSU with a higher wattage. 650W is not enough.

650w PSU is more thank enough to power up 1 rX570, the 6pin connector is an optional aux, did you managed to get upto motherboard Bios settings? if not, try to plug your monitor on your onboard VGA display port, and change your bios settings to use the PCI-e x16.

Yeah it is just 1x rx570 which pull 225watts max? Although I did see a site saying it pulls 500 Watts.,I’ve ordered a new power supply just to be sure.
I can load the motherboard bios when unplugging the gpu and connecting hdmi directly to board, then I have switched it to use pci and not onboard graphics, then I reconnect the gpu, run hdmi from gpu and no display output.
im not sure what else could not be working hardware wise, although it’s strange how it booted once via gpu?
Thanks, Tim

Try clearing the MOBOs CMOS. Take out the battery and wait for some time (or hold down the power on button). Put the battery in again, power on and hope for the best.

I’ve tried resetting CMOS, pulled every cable and tried to set it up from scratch. Still the motherboard will boot without gpu connected, but moment I connect gpu it fails to boot. I get all fans on, some kind of signal from the gpu but the output is just a black screen.
In the boards bios it is set to use PCIe graphics when connected.
What are the chances the gpu is no good? Or that the connection from the motherboard to the gpu isn’t working? The powered riser didn’t work which is why I connected the gpu directly to the motherboard. If I had another machine I’d test it, but I don’t. I guess if the new psu doesn’t work I’ll return the gpu and try a new one. If that doesn’t work I guess I’ll return the motherboard that occurs when I plug the gou in?

DOA sadly isn't rare to come by

This is true, it is very strange how i got it to work once after removing the riser and plugging directly into board.
But thank you, I will keep playing around and if anything else comes to mind please feel free to say. I will post if I find a solution or if I find that it’s a hardware issue.
Thanks,
Tim

Can someone confirm whether the Rx570 is compatible with the AsRock?
I’m sure it is but I’m still itching my head,
Thanks,
Tim

Try it like this, reset bios and use onboard VGA, and keep it don't change it to PCIE GPU. After that add your GPU, check it on windows system device error or not, DDU it and use blockchain driver and if you use mod bios don't forget to use atiamdpatch. Restart after install all and if it goes to windows and gpu not error, move your monitor from onboard to gpu, check if the monitor on (if not then your hdmi not powered and of course your screen will always blank), shutdown and go to bios and change from onboard vga to pcie gpu and then plug in your monitor to gpu. If still blank screen change your hdmi to another hdmi with powered or just try another monitor cause some monitor not good enough.

Hi, Thank you, I’m just away from home will try this when I get home. I managed to get the system running booting via onboard graphics but using the external gpu to mine. I know it’s not ideal but it is pulling in 19.5MH/S (not clocked). So I think that’s ok.
I’ve got a few GPUs RX570s, not sure how to power them all? My power supply doesn’t have enough 6/8 pin connectors?
I’m going to post a separate questions just relating to powersupplies. But how do you power 6 x RX570s? Where do you get all the 6/8pins from? I’m happy to buy a new PSU if it can power a few?
Thanks,
Tim
