Hi all, my mining rig is back to life after 2 years...

Hardware:
ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ (Bios 1.60)
2 x Corsair HX1000
6 x Radeon RX 580 8GB (modded Bios)
6 x Radeon RX 470 4GB (modded Bios)

Software:
Windows 10 20H2 19042.685 (the latest)
AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.12.1
PhoenixMiner 5.4c
ATIkmdag-patcher 1.4.9

Settings:
64GB Allocated Memory in Windows 10 (PheonixMiner asks to allocate minimum 42GB+ for 12 cards, I allocated 64GB).
All cards RX 470 & RX 580 are modded (bios) + atikmdag-patcher for drivers.
AMD Radeon software -> every card has been switched from 'Graphics' to "Compute" mode.

I am running 12 cards at the moment and everything is stable but I have VERY LOW hashrate on all RX 470 4GB between 6-9MH/s.
I restored original bioses on all RX 470's and run miner without RX 580's - hashrate was 8MH/s on all cards.

Is it time for selling RX 470 4GB cards, or am I doing something wrong??

It is time to retire 4GB cards. ETH DAG size is already 4.023GB so there is no room in the GPU mem for the DAG to be loaded. There were some ways to limp on for a few more days but I think they have passed now. Time to put them out to pasture.. or better yet try and sell them..

Was fine today running my 2 Radeon VII cards on Phoenix Miner 5.4c AMD driver 20.4.2
turned off miners to do some clean up, but didnt shut off windows
tried to restart miners and getting  clSetKernelArg (-48) error

eventually found Windows was sneaky and updated the radeon drivers
rolled back driver and good to go again.

Worth a try for Windows 10 plebs
You can try and use local group policy to prevent windows from updating drivers via windows updates
If you are using windows home for some reason you will need to find a guide on installing group policy editor on windows home.
open Gpedit.msc
expand Computer configuration > Administrative templates > Windows Components > Windows update
There should be a setting that says "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates"
Enabled that.
Or just Enable "Remove access to use all Windows Update Features" all together.

Im using 5 x Nvidia P104-100 4GB, havent used these rigs for well over 2 years.
Now I installed PhoenixMiner 5.4c and when I run the "start_miner" file, it quickly close the cmd window (I managed to printscreen) before they close each time I run. Any idea what seems to be the problem and solution would be very much appreciated.

Try 4.9c. None of the 5.x versions work for my Evga p104s. But 4.9c ive had running for about 10 days since I switched form 5 to 4.9.

help me  asrock rx 5700 xt phantom gaming
this is a memory overclocking error
you need to either reduce the memory frequency
or step by step increase the memory voltage (mvdd) and a little SOC voltage and test further

Hi, I am using Phoenix Miner 5.4c Linux/gcc - Release build on Ubuntu 20.04.1 with Asus dual-rx5700xt-o8g-evo. Installed AMD drivers 20.45, for which had to downgrade the kernel to 5.4.0-54-generic. However the miner does not seem to recognize the drivers:

2021.01.10:05:17:20.716: main Unknown OpenCL driver version! Hashrate and stale shares may suffer
2021.01.10:05:17:20.716: main OpenCL platform: OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (3188.4)
2021.01.10:05:17:20.716: main Available GPUs for mining:
2021.01.10:05:17:20.716: main GPU1: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (pcie 25), OpenCL 2.0, 8 GB VRAM, 40 CUs
2021.01.10:05:17:20.717: main AMD sysfs monitor initialized

I am getting 53-54 Mh/s, which seems normal for rx5700xt. Would it get any better if the miner recognized the drivers? Should I worry about drivers not being recognized?

Thanks mate. I'm lucky to have your answer =) Wil try em out now.

Btw another rig of mine has 4xP104-100 (4GB) and 1xRX580. May I know how do it set them up to mine without issues? Do i have to use dual mining only able to maximise them?

Hi.
I Install PhoenixMiner For The First Time. I'm trying with PhoenixMiner 5.1c. The miner does not manage the video cards correctly according to the settings in the config file, in particular the control of the fans and the downclock of the memory and GPU frequencies. I tried different versions of the drivers listed here as "Good Drivers", but with all the problem is the same. What do I need to do to get the miner himself to manage the cards and to override the video card bios?

My Rig: 14xRX580 Asus Rog Strix 8Gb GDDR5 Samsung on ASUS 250 Mining Expert. My VBIOS are overclocked - GPU on 1350 MHz and Memory on 2000 MHz. I use Windows 10 64 Pro 2002 - MBR-CSM and AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 20.4.2-may25.
These are my config file settings:

PhoniexMiner cannot correctly manage it because Asus never released 350 Mining Expert mono.

apparently we are talking about a b250 mining expert
But has Windows already learned to understand more than 12 video cards?
I have the same system board with ten cards for Windows 10 and drivers 20.5.1, everything works fine

how does PM calculate effect hash and at pool stats?

Why are both of those numbers so much lower than my hash rate even with zero rejects?

Has anyone had an issue mixing 580s with Vega 56 together on the same rig??? Just tried today adding a 56 to my 580s and can not control the fan speed either in Afterburner or the miner...its the strangest thing because my 580s fan just stay off after starting Windows

how does PM calculate effect hash and at pool stats?

Why are both of those numbers so much lower than my hash rate even with zero rejects?
Q007: What is the meaning of "effective speed" shown by PhoenixMiner's statistics?
A: This is a measure of the actually found shares, which determines how the pool sees your
miner hashrate. This number should be close to the average hashrate of your rig (usually a 2-4%
lower than it) depending you your current luck in finding shares. This statistic is meaningless
in the first few hours after the miner is started and will level off to the real value with
   time.

Q008: Why is the effective hashrate shown by the pool lower than the one shown by PhoenixMiner?
A: There are two reasons for this: stale shares and luck. The stale shares are rewarded at only
about 50-70% by most pools. The luck factor should level itself off over time but it may take
a few days before it does. If your effective hashrate reported by the pool is consistently lower
than the hashrate of your rig by more than 5-7% than you should look at the number of stale shares
and the average share acceptance time - if it is higher than 100 ms, try to find a pool that is
near to you geographically to lower the network latency. You can also restart your rig, or
   try another pool.

Dear mining fellows,
I spend some time testing this miner using Asus Vega64. Neither ubuntu nor windows platform was stable mining and not even talking about performance.
If someone figured it out please post your configuration. I guess I am not the only one...

OS / OS Version / driver version / (kernel version) / (kernel mods) / miner parameters

Cheers, ZZSiro

It’s shocking how a newbie member reads and understands how mining works - but a full member does not!
