Is it possible to control the speed of a fan connected to a PWM header? I have only 1 non-pwm header in my mobo which I would like to use with cpu fan.. can I like extend the non-pwm header with a hub or smth

Not sure how helpful it will be but I have a NiceHash installation I last used in January this year just to compare it with mining Ethereum directly myself. It has up to PhoenixMiner 5.4c only.

Well that would be something, wouldn't it.

If you look at HiveOS's miner distribution almost half (45%) is using Phoenix miner

And a lot of miners are using simple/hive os to my knowledge. Heard neither of them nag.
If you look at the sheer volume of hashpower and the corresponding dev fees coming in next to the track record of phoenix, it's all a little far fetched IMHO.

So if the Dev was planning 'something malicious', wouldn't that be the same as shooting yourself in the foot?

As stated above, probably a way of scaring you into using their miner.
If you're so concerned with the safety of 'unsigned software'*  from an 'anonymous author', why include it in the first place.

I am shocked because I used nicehash with phoenixminer until 9hrs ago  
still didn't know what's right, need more info.

I am using 5.5c phoenixminer, it report same speed between nicehash and ethermine.
but in nicehash I started getting rejected share from 2-3 days ago, idk why.

What would be helpful is a shasum of the phoenixminer binary. I am using 5.5c downloaded from this thread a while ago, with the right checksum. This is the linux version. My Phoenix miner binary has:

I have the windows version but sadly deleted the zip after I extracted it and all I have is the folder from inside it. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this so is it still possible to get the sha sum? If so please let me know and I can share it.

I still have my 5.4c downloaded from here and the SHA1 does indeed match the one from my NiceHash directory. But I have no idea how relevant that is given 5.5c is the latest.

Wish I could help. My NiceHash is a bit older and has 5.4c, the plugin refuses to update as well otherwise I'd be happy to share the 5.5c from NiceHash compared with my 5.5c. All I know is the NiceHash 5.4c and the 5.4c from this thread do match.

I joined after reading NiceHash blog and how it was mentioned to change everything and wipe my OS (Great, two PC's to wipe the OS on and change all my system passwords (saved on browser so hundreds of passwords compromised? Give me a break!)

Judging by what I am seeing is that the miner binary version was 5.5C

But what strikes me is that there was no proof provided.

Anyone know why Phoenixminer lowers the core clockrate on some GPUs (and not others of the same model on the same rig) after they start up and successfully hash at ~50 MH/s for a few minutes? I am starting all my RX 5700s at 1300/900 (core/memory) and they all start out at ~50 then for some reason PM lowers the clock rates on some which end up hashing at around 40 MH/s or less. I am setting GT value at startup so it's not auto-tuning. Any thoughts?

Hey I just saw your post. Have you looked at the memory temperature? This can be the only reason why your core clock drops after it started mining. AMD automatically thermal throttles when memory reaches above 105C and has nothing to do with the miner, not simplemining OS.
