I'm trying to wrap my head around namecoin....

By the way, is there a "block explorer" or a "namecoin watch" or other sites for namecoin like there are for bitcoin?

Buy a TREZOR! Premier BTC hardware wallet. If you're reading this, you should probably buy one if you don't already have one. You'll thank me later.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

You need to re-do this thread and make the title "Someone Write Up a Namecoin for Dummies Please", I was tricked into coming here.

I was just thinking the other day about the "Bitcoin for dummies" book that will surely come out sometime in the next few years.
