I highly doubt that this was the case. So many people would have to pull out for this to be the case. It's possible that it's the reason that the entire downfall started, but I don't think it's a major reason. If anything, it's mostly people who are nervous after they see BTC drop by a couple of hundred. Regardless, we're on the come up again, as we always have been after drops like these, and I don't think we'll be affected too much by this drop in the future.

xmas and holiday seasons are indeed the real main reason on why bitcoin has dropped dramatically. some other factors that i think of is the correction that also happend recently however bitcoin is not yet safe because we are still close to new year (december 31 ) and people will then again expected to sell off their coins to be able to prepare for this last event.

That maybe one of the reasons why bitcoin price dropped because of holiday spending but the drop is one of the worst that happened to a leading cryptocurrency this year. There are some other causes that might also contributed to the massive drop of bitcoin like the fears of bitcoin bubble, the infighting between the supporters of bitcoin and bitcoin cash, hacking and regulation, possible market manipulation and high mining fees.

I believe that the whales are the reason why the price of bitcoin dipped down. Including those small investors in order to have food and gifts during Christmas. We also expect that in upcoming New Year celebration, the bitcoin price will move down also. That is just my guess.

I think yes, this holiday season is more likely the reason of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency price crash this past few days, for the reason that people involved in Bitcoin and altcoins are talking/asking about it and they are expecting that most of investors (especially big investors) will cash out their Bitcoins before christmas to buy gift for their love ones and it caused panic to other people that results in panic selling. That's true. It may have some effect however only a number of people must have done so, and therefore created only a small impact. There are other factors which have contributed to the price drop. Also, it was beneficial and healthy. The price was bound to go down anyways since it's been high for quite some time already; there was no surprise that it went down and it's possible that the holiday season was purely coincidental. Altcoins had the best value on ≈ May, June, July (spring) and Litecoin is the first coin to recover the same level of those dates (≈ 0.19btc on July) only in 11 days.
Other altcoins had an increment these days (sc, xrp, xem, zcash...) it's like altcoins could/try recover its old value on 2018.

Well, I think it's not about seasons but it's about because of the fork and it's about sharply higher price of bitcoin last last weeks I think it's the reason why there are little bit drop of price of bitcoin this week. I really don't think so. It's true that part of the traders are not very active during holiday period, and some needs to cash out for Christmas gifts, but it should be quite a small part of population and should not impact billions of market cap in such short period.

There's a big chance that the past holiday was responsible for bitcoin's drop. But I think, whatever reason behind it is not important anymore because the thing that matters for now is the fact that btc is recovering. Bitcoin is now $16000+ and still rising, but I'm not confident that it will continue since there's still an upcoming celebration which may force the people to sell their btc and cause a big drop again.

If we remember the previous year, it is very much clear that  Christmas effected the price of bitcoin too much but on the very 1st day of 2017 the price was skyrocket. I think even in 2017 two continuous holiday really effected  the price of bitcoin, but we are expecting that the new year will really give a new boost to bitcoin price and it is expected that bitcoin price will very soon cross even 30000$ level in next few month. But i read an article on businessinsider.com earlier last week that bitcoin's price started to plunge after one of the founders of bitcoin.com announced that he would sell his stake in bitcoin. No one can tell though that it's the real reason why bitcoin's price drops to over 40% during Christmas season.

That’s quite true… end of the year, which is December, is mostly when investors withdraws the investments they have made so far and calculate their profits. For now, I do not think that there are so many shops that want to pay in btc, may be ony particular site that really legal in the country will accept this. I think that might be part of the case, i think the holidays slightly or in a minor scale
influence the drop of price. It reached a record high before Christmas then it suddenly

The major correction was long due and overdue. It appears to be the main reason behind the dramatic price fall in the last two weeks. A year ago the price had been surging through all holidays until the Chinese central bank came out and crashed Bitcoin on January 8-9.

I have seen some people too who gifted their family and friends with coins instead of the traditional gifts because they know that it would be valuable in the future. I do not think so, because not everyone will attract bitcoin on holiday just for the spree, most of them will hold it until the end of the year waiting for the price spike.

There is usually a correction during the holiday season,it is nothing new,but the correction we are facing right now is not because of the holiday season,it is simply because the price has shot up really high in a short period of time and expect the market to settle down after all those rallies we had as you cannot expect every coin to move up all the time and since there was a big rally ,all of the countries around the world are trying to implement rules and regulations and expect the market to move accordingly.

Personally i did withdraw last xmas to spend in a out of town vacation,same as my friends because they know thay by January price of bitcoin will drop ,specially in last part of december when the price reached the unexpected growth of $20,000 ..maybe in some ways this affects the market since i know in asia many withdrawals happening in every occation

There is no exact season when we can accurately say that the value of bitcoin will increase or decrease.
And do not withdraw entirely your bitcoin earnings just to buy gifts for bitcoin! Manage it efficiently for maximized profit in the long run.

Right price of bitcoin is not about any seasons as price increase and decrease only with the demand of bitcoin in market nothing else has the effect on bitcoin price, as Christmas is about but it has not such strong effect for price drop infect people will use bitcoin to buy gifts for love one so I think this Christmas price will increase higher instead of dropping. Maybe it happen but I think in every occasion is not related to the crypto market or holiday is not the reason why sometimes the market is bloody because theres a lot traders have smart mind. Maybe some weak hands did not take it anymore that's why they sell their coins.

yes i think because when holiday or before holidays, we people need money so we can do relax. to do that, we need to have money. and all our investment and earnings in bitcoin is available for that. so some people withdraw their money to use and invest later when they do not need it again.
