This coindesk article seemed to indicate just btc was stolen.  Balances in the other alt-coins unaffected?  Yes/No?
http://www.coindesk.com/coinex-pw-hacked-will-cover-losses/

I think this is what most people are wondering about, and hoping for some info on. I only had a tiny bit of bitcoin on Coinex, but I did have some other coins.

I know for a fact LTC was definitely taken, see my first post in this thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=265277.msg5762477#msg5762477

What happend to freedom of speech? what happened to integrity? Have we all just become a bunch of money grubbing whores? What is money if we can't do anything with it? What is money worth if we are trying to cut each others legs off just get more money?  We are supposed to use money as a means to share.  Money was created to make the common man more wealthy with an honest living.  Instead it has just made more thieves and pirates.  Why does this bitcointalk even exist?  WHy can't we just all get along and share and enjoy the life we all have...  it makes me sad.   I am weeping harder than Jesus ever has.

Craptsy ?! Are you sure??? They are really bad and this is when they don't have a problem... What would happen if they do have a real problem???

Sometimes you will wait them for hours to show up your own coins in your deposit balance. This is unacceptable.

Cryptsy moves like a slug, has an awkward interface, and can be very iffy. And that said, they probably are the best of a bad bunch.

I am sort of amazed at just how poorly most exchanges are set up and run.

I have to agree, I haven't found a single "Exchange/ECN/Brokerage/??? whatever you want to call these sites that even comes close to what I can get for trading equities. I personally hate all of these web interfaces.  They're hard to program with any sophistication, they expose all sorts of interfaces directly to the hackers, there's absolutely no real charting or Statistical Analysis capabilities and the list goes on... I'm looking for a few people with a different view for this market that would be interested in doing it securely and doing it right!  Anybody have an interest in at least exploring this type of an opportunity?

IM me if you do!

You want to hear me say something positive? I likd the site, why i invested in it.  It has a nice interface... is that all it is tho?  It needs more support, attention, and less trolls.  Everytime I open chat, all i see is same troll asses... Where are they now?  Were they part of the scaM the whole time?   Come on coinEx... if you really are making that much money, woudln't it be more worthwhile to have an honest security team and have it up 24/7 like cex.IO.  Or are you just going to make more money off sayin some guy hacked it and stealing our coins and acting like the victim?  I don't trust you more than I trust obama or the CIA........

Was feeling that way up until recently when all of the exchanges were hacked/scammed, now I'm looking for a way to bring some sanity to this as an industry.  The real secret is to "just do the next right thing... whatever that is", it works in life and it works in business too.

It will bounce back man, i don't think its that dismal... I think its just time to start holding people accountable for their actions in the most sane and safest peaceful way possible....

Thx for the update!! Smiley

I would love to help finding this asshole(s)!
It should be able to track dem down by retracking the wallet address(s) used for all transactions to get the IP's, by comparing against known wallet addresses which were included during the transactions of all exchanges  (starting by coinex withdraw wallet addresses) ?!?! maybe another GOOD genius "hacker" could get it more closer.

NSA where are your fucking illegal tools to track this dude ^^

Wish you get it running soon it was a great exchange platform Smiley !!

Something like that needs to be done! We must counterattack and find the criminals who do this kind of theft!
Otherwise, the altcoin and bitcoin world is going to fall apart! Who will want to have unsafe coins?   Embarrassed

Hi Nyktalgia,

You're not doing us good by spreading this nonsense, so my advise: do you have a bridge nearby? If so get a rope and hang your self. If not find a bridge and a rope. If you want any help please let me know.

Regards,
Guido

Long story short: an insurance company for Bitcoin-based services.

That idea is really good. You never can be 100% safe. And all the banks and other exchanges have similar insurance-institutions.

Damn now you guys are speaking my language, fuck the NSA tho, they are bigger scam than these hackers.... we need a legit network of anti hackers....  I would even give BTC to ppl who actually were able to stop these criminals succesfully.    I would join that group too and help them.

It's kind of a start, but who is going to validate that the Exchange is using secure practices in their systems and their coding standards?  Who's gonna run a thorough PEN test to validate the Site is solid?  Who is going to make sure that theses exchanges actually treat transactions fairly, don't front run their clients, aren't getting paid off to let certain big traders aren't allowed to jump the orderbook, etc...

Insurance comes after there is a way to make sure the sites are secured and the consumers of these exchanges are being treated fairly in every way and not stolen from behind the scenes.

Put it this way... either do it right or don't do it at all.

Just to throw it out there, I noticed this when my account was hacked and coins manipulated (sold into BTC< but they were unable to withdraw).

I changed my password and created a ticket.  My ticket was never answered and it was many days the site was still up after I noted and reported this.

Unfortunately, if this was indeed a hack issue, it's unfortunate as there seems to have been ample oppurtunity to detect and correct the issue.

I hope you're sarcastic... that is the worst idea ever... BITCOIN INSURANCE SHOULD BE RELIANT ON THE PPL WHO HOLD VALUE IN BITCOIN!!! Meaning we need to have our own personal insurance, making sure its successful and nobody gets fucked over.  More importantly making sure Bitcoin has value in being able to buy real products, such as organic food made from local farms, and being able to sustain these farms, as well as the internet which hold the bitcoins... you get the idea.

While we're waiting for an answer from a few investors, we came up to another idea which could bring much more trust into the bitcoin community.

Long story short: an insurance company for Bitcoin-based services.

That's about as good of an idea as creating a system which is hack-proof.

Who's going to provide the insurance? How much are the insurance companies going to keep in cold storage? Who's going to audit the insurance companies? What happens when the insurance company gets hacked?
