New Miner and building a 6 card 1070 ti rig, make sure I don’t screw it up.

I think I’ve done enough research at this point and settled on a 1070 ti rig for mining alt coins that are on the rise. I will document my rig here and just ask that the more experienced members check in to make sure I won’t regret a hardware choice.
So far:
5x EVGA 1070 ti Black Edition
1x Zotac mini 1070 ti (thank you amazon buying limit of 5!)
1000W EVGA platinum PSU (will this be enough or too much)
Not decided on motherboard or processor
Will run Simple miner SMOS software of a jump drive
Rig frame may be built not purchased.

Im currently running 5x EVGA 1070Ti SC and using 720w sonif you are planning on using a 1000w psu you will need to make sure your clocks are as efficient as possible.

Yeah probably shouldn’t tax the psu to it’s absolute limit. Guess I’ll go 1200 platinum to be safe. They use like 160-170 watts a piece I’m reading if undervolted.

Plan was to eventually double the rig using same motherboard. ASrock 110. Guess I could do a 1000 as the second psu when I add 6 more cards.

I’m seeing huge price variation in the BTC110 asrock motherboard so not sure how many of them are scams and prices on eBay of $230 from overseas and $350 from here in US or Canada.

May just order an Asus B250 miming Pro card.

Should I change plans and just get a gigabyte 6 pci-e board and just build multiple rigs?

Im also new here. I am planning on building a rig with similar features. What is your expected ROI? Is your electricity expensive, I´m in Colombia and here is very cheap..

Motherboard must be designed for mining, not the typical gaming mobo.
You can get a supported processor as low as an i3 (it won't be an issue) but the higher, the fancier.
Just be cautious when building a rig with a riser, the riser must be powered.

And the 5 identical cards are good but I don't know what will happen when you add the next one.
Although they are all 1070ti-s, things can get wrong.

No it doesnt have to be designed for mining unless he wants to build a 12 or more card rig. Personally a rig with 6-8carfs in is fine. A second rig the same will always be my option as then you havent got all eggs in one basket

Gigabyte z270p-D3 seems cheap enough at $117 for a single rig. Will that one do?

Or MSI z270 Pro even cheaper with rebate to $89

Cant speak on either board. Im using an asrock z270 pro4 and its good so far. Ive found for these cards pci settings at gen2 are most stable.

I plan to setup the mobo, update the bios and install windows. Get that stable and then add a GPU and install drivers. Test the over lock settings until I have a profile I like, and then add a card, add drivers and add profile and then test to see stability and keep doing that with each card until it’s all running.

You might take a look at SimpleMiningOS over on the forums - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1541084.0 .   For 2 bucks a month I think it's well worth it on a 5 x 1070 system.   

Super easy to setup and the web interface is honestly worth a lot more then 2 dollars a month if you plan on changing coins you mine.

I think I am going to try and use MultipoolMiner for a week or so and see how it goes.  I was going to try that for a week and then compare it to Nemos and see if I can get a feel for one better than the other. 

Not sure if the SimpleMiningOS is going to get me a better hashrate?

Asrock h110 is fine. You can easily, as you mentioned, double your rig. 12 NVIDIA GPUs easily with win10 build 1709.

However, if since you'll be adding a second PSU, thats where the asus mining expert gains an advantage. It has multiple 24-pin atx PSU sockets. So you simply plug in the second PSU instead of doing the paperclip technique or buying add2psu. The only downside i see is that it doesn't have the built-in power button like the asrock.
