Should I start mining with notebook?

Hello. I have ASUS X72J and I would like to know if is it good idea to mine BTC with it. My hashrate is about 16 Mhash/s. Components:
Intel core i3
4Gb RAM
ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (1GB)
I would like to join some pool, but will it be profitable?

I think it would only be profitable if you do not factor in the new laptop you may have to buy. There are websites for determining your profitability, but generally laptops are not going to cut it. Even a more robust desktop may loose money on electricity costs.
The problem is competition. As more miners move to dedicated hardware, this will likely only get worse.

The short answer is no that video card will push around 17 MHash/s and you would never see a useable return in BTC from mining with that.  It would cost about .32 cents a day to run the laptop 24/7 w/ a 90W power supply and it would mine about .03 cents (0.0003 BTC at current difficulty projections) in that 24 hour period not taking into consideration increasing difficulty.

I'd like to try it. I downloaded CGMiner, latest graphics card drivers, Ati SKD and set up StartMining.bat . I wrote in it:
cgminer -o http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332 -u Manderius.worker -p *MyPassHere*
but it just starts with the first line "CGMiner started" and after 6 seconds it closes.
I also tried
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.triplemining.com:3334 -u Manderius_Worker -p *MyPassHere*
and it also doesn't start working, just closes itself.
Password and usernames are OK, when I look into logfile.txt it says
JSON-RPC decode failed: (unknown reason)
Stratum authorisation success for pool 0
Pool *adress* alive
List of devices: 0   Cedar
Selected 0: Cedar

That is all. I searched on Google but I've found nothing.

If you are mining for fun only then why not...

Some things to bear in mind.

1.  The laptop will get very hot as the GPU is pushed to it's limits
2.  The screen can go unresponsive if you are using certian mining programms and the settings are too high (you need to maintain the main OS GUI)
3.  Mining can cause some software and hardware problems ( especially if used long term).... I have burnt out 3 XfX 7970's in 5 months (says more about the quality of XfX tho tbh).
4.  You will not be able to use the laptop for much else while mining.
5.  You will not make any profit unless you have free electric.

you may want to concider a cpu only coin as the laptop to desktop gap is smaller for CPU perfomace over GPU perfomace.

its around 1000mh at this point if you want to make any noteworthy gain.
If you pay for 1000mh/s you'd better have bought it Really, Really cheap or as a "side project" to you're bandnew gaming rig.

You'll basically need an ASIC to get a ROI

The biggest problem is repairing a faulty hardware item months from now.

If you overheat and fry a component, you may have to spend a lot of money to get the piece repaired unless it's part of the mobo, then you're screwed. All for a few fractions of a cent mining..

Not worth it.

If you're really wanting to start. Look at the little usb block erupters that pump out 300mhs(SHA only, no alt coins) or get a radeon 7950(550mhs) for a tower computer. Decent starters to have fun with.

I you think burning your notebook for less than 0.00001 cent per day is ok, then sure, go for it!

I also set up mining on a completely non-profitable laptop first, just because it's what I had access to when I learned about mining.

Now I've got a few block erupters mining away, and have purchased shares in an upcoming Jupiter.

I'll probably get a few 7950s built into a dedicated machine to mine Litecoins, which I'll convert into Bitcoins.
