If i want to buy say 1500 shares of a coin that is say 1 dollar, i know that you have to look at the ask price and there would be the ask price and how much of that coin is available.  However say you want to buy 1500 of them but the person selling at lowest price only has 50 shares.  Then the next guy has 150 shares etc.  Thus if you want to buy all 1500 shares, you have to buy through total of 5 sellers.

Is there a way to do this by just putting 1 price or not?  Do you put the ask price of the 5th seller and then put 1500 shares?  Or do you just put say the price of the 5th seller as if you do that, then it would buy all the shares of the previous sellers and then the 5th seller to get the total 1500 shares?  Thus say the first few sellers are selling it at 1 dollar, then another one at 1.01 etc.. then the 5th seller is at say 1.06.

Because if say someone is selling 1500 shares at the lowest possible price on the ask... then its easy.. you click buy 1500 shares at whatever btc price it is at.  But what about when you could only buy that total amount but need to buy from 5 different sellers.  Also this should apply the same when selling as well?  The thing is most of you do the immediate or cancel option right?  Because i wouldnt want to put 1500 shares at 1 dollar... but the could only buy 50... then have to wait till the order gets complete if you know what i mean?

Also another thing.  I notice the bid/ask price for many coins are few cents off.  Say a bid price is 1.05.  The ask price should be around 1.06 right?  Thus should be 1 cent different?  So if ask price is 1.11, and you want to buy, you should put down 1.06 as the price you want to buy?  Thus you could buy it at 1.11 but you would be paying more than as oppose you put 1.06 and wait for it to get filled?

Anyone can tell me how you do this if the amount of shares you want to buy or sell is not available by the first seller?

Yes I can. First the coins are measured in satoshi value and increase by 1 or 2 sats depending on the exchange. And what you are looking for is something called a limit order which is where you set your buy at that price in which case you will be placed in the orderbooks. Lets say you want to buy 10 coins of xyz at $1 but there are only 5 coins available at $1 and the rest are $1.01 and above then you can place a limit order for the other 5 coins you want at $1 which again won't be in USD but rather in satoshi value. I hope this clarifies the problems you are having with placing orders. If still confused visit http://cryptocurrencyfacts.com/market-limit-stop-orders-cryptocurrency/ or youtube market, limit, and stop orders.

Hi there.  The issue with this is these altcoins i want to buy are not usdt... they are traded against btc.  So say i want to buy a coin at 2 dollars and want to buy say 100 shares to make it simple.  Well say its 2.50 now.  You can't put down 2.50 as the price... u need to put the price as btc amount.  So the btc amount that is 2 dollars now could be 2.20 or 1.50 later on right depending on how btc does?  That seems to be an issue of this if you are buying/selling an altcoin that is NOT TRADED AGAINST USDT.

Hey guys want to use an example.

Say i want to buy 100 shares of a coin at 5 dollars or whatever is the btc price as in 0.00032913

Let say i see on bittrex

0.00032912 btc price but only 50 shares available
0.00032913 btc price with 150 shares available

So if i want to buy it now, do i put 0.00032913 btc price or 0.00032912?  Because if i buy it from the lowest price seller, i only get 50 shares and not the full 100.  So i should be putting 0.00032913 btc?  And if i do that, would the system automatically buy 50 shares from the lowest seller and then the rest from the next seller?  Or would it automatically buy 100 shares from the 2nd highest seller?

Hey all.  So i did a buy and sell on bittrex but when i did this, i made sure they had x amount of shares at the lowest price to buy or sell.  However let say i want to buy 1000 shares at say 0.0001 btc for example.

But the person selling it at that price only have 500 shares.  The person that is selling it at 0.00011 has 1200 shares.

So if i were to buy this coin, do i just put down buy 1000 shares at 0.00011?  That way it would buy 500 shares automatically at the lower price of 0.0001 btc?  Then the other 500 from the person selling it at 0.00011 who has 1200 shares?  I assume it would not buy 1200 shares from the seller at 0.00011 right and buy the lower price one first?

What the heck is a "share" of a coin? They're just "coins", not "shares". You dont own part of a company.

Jerry, I believe this answer is really where you should focus. Focus on the amount that you are willing to buy and the max price you are willing to buy them at.

Anyone can tell me how you do this if the amount of shares you want to buy or sell is not available by the first seller?

Well say i want to buy 1000 shares of a coin that is 5 dollars.  On bittrex someone is selling at 5 dollars but only selling 50 shares.  The next seller is selling at 5.02 and selling 500 shares.  The next seller is selling at 5.03 and selling 800 shares.

So here let say im willing to buy it at 5.03.  If i put 1000 shares at 5.03... would bittrex and other exchanges automatically buy the 50 shares at 5 dollars and 500 shares at 5.02 first before buying the 450 shares at 5.03?
