I think Silk Road's most serious crime was that enough money wasn't kicked up to law enforcement as is the case with local drug dealers.  Ross may have enough leverage to plea down to a lighter sentence in exchange for granting access to his Bitcoins.  The new Silk Road that emerges out of this will be more closely connected to law enforcement so that the lion's share of the proceeds go to them in exchange for allowing the site to operate.  This is pure speculation on my part.  I may end being completely wrong on this.

Sorry, I may not be as up to date on these developments as most but what about this bust being about LE wanting a bigger cut of the action?  I think future exchanges like this will be more closely linked with LE probably under the guise of keeping tabs on CIs but really just wanting a slice of the pie.

OK point taken.  I'm usually the one making fun of other people's conspiracy theories.  But in this case we already know there was a conspiracy to take down the site.  I don't think what I'm suggesting is that out there.
