Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Its the quick confirmations... The transaction take seconds whilst the transactions in bitcoin can take much much longer.. 200k.. Thats great...seems that today you are quite rich Smiley

Zetacoin will soon be in the FreeBSD ports collection along side bitcoin.

I've created and submitted a port:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=184369

If accepted, this should make installing zetacoin on FreeBSD as easy as running a single command.  The only potential problem I see is that "debug.log" file I was asking about earlier.  I'm not sure how to resolve that, and I don't think a 'symlink' would be an acceptable solution.

That plus once all the 160 millions are mined, you still have 1 million issued a year, incentive for the miners to keep hashing without increasing fees.

Sounds quite similar to GeistGeld then. Except that it cannot be merged mined, right? So the only hashing power it is going to get is taken away from other coins such as bitcoin, whereas you can mine GeistGeld right alongside all the other merged mined coins (bitcoin, namecoin, groupcoin, devcoin, ixcoin, i0coin, coiledcoin) using your same hashing-power. So why would I turn my hashing power away from merged mining eight coins at once to mine just this one coin? You could say ah but this coin is low difficulty, but coiledcoin and (especially) geistgeld are also low difficulty, so with merged mining I get two low difficulty coins at once plus also still get my bitcoins, namecoins, groupcoins, devcoins, ixcoins, i0coins and coiledcoins...

Oh and its not only geistgeld that keeps giving coins forever either; by merged mining I get several coins that will keep on going so miners won't need only fees to support them.

5-7 hours ago I decided to liquidate some coins and reinvest. I decided to buy zet @ 1300, 1400 in small amounts incrementally for about an hour straight.. just for long term investment since it is a cheap coin. There was verrry little traffic happening. For some reason people started buying A FUKin TON of zet.. I'm not saying I started anything but..... jesus christ. This was on cryptsy and the guys on coinex chat were trippin out watching the new buys.
I know nothing about this coin... maybe it is a good coin.. could be a real sleeper. unlikely.
My guess is it's hyped now and it'll decrease in price soon... I hope not... but... we will see.

6am - when I quit buying & went to sleep
2,580,347 market cap @ .016

11 am when I woke up
$ 5,323,157
