For me it works fine. But in some wallet it sometimes happen. It gets stuck and doesn't want to sync. Sometimes I had to backup wallet.dat, delete AppData\coinname folder and resync.

You shouldn't leave your coins in exchange sites, no matter how trustworthy they seem to be. Better have them in the wallet is my opinion.
