Hello all!

I have a problem I have noticed that there are some campaigns that has gifs on their's image and they tend to tell their users to put those gifs image as an profile pictures. I get it if you have something flashy it will get attention of people but it is irritating. I wanted to ask if there's an option to disable gifs as profile pictures?

Here is one example in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2680603.msg27441637#msg27441637 , have seen more on some other threads.

Was looking at some forum options and the only thing that I could find was in Look and Layout Preferences and seems I am able to disable signatures as well as avatars from people. But the point is that I'd like to see some avatars personally sigs are not the big problem since they can't be flashy images anyway. Or I will have to end up by disabling all avatars of people at end?

Thanks in advance,

forum user,

ManaMan

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

They're not gifs and gifs are already disabled. Somebody has worked out how to create animated PNGs to get around it:

Code:

Maybe theymos should try disable them or add an option where users can turn them off themselves manually if people are finding them annoying.

Hmm thank you for your reply, thing is that I hear for the first time that you can make animated images with png, always thought that this was able only with gifs. Out of my lack of knowledge seems to come bad conclusion on this matter. According to wikipedia release of this thing was way back in 2008  Roll Eyes and this type of format is called APNG which means that it can be blocked. Anyway I am not sure about forum rules might search for browser extension that does the trick or even write one myself if I find it to be easy.

Thanks again for your answer I really appreciate that!
