I don't really understand how the activity works and now I just feel dumb. It will be great if anyone can dumb down it for me. How long does it take exactly to be jr member?

I just became a member myself, and I assume you just have to keep posting (be actively involved in the forum). Good luck!

you need 30 activity, but you can get only 14 activity every two week. So you'll need to do 1 post every day during 4 weeks and a little bit more to get junior status

I'm trying to post in the asic miner boards but so far I'm stuck in here... any thoughts?

Post more and you'll rise your rank. And this is a common question, try to watch through the forum and use "Search".  Wink

It's very important to post more and wait for your rank to go up, patiently. Smiley

Just keep posting, keep replying but make it relevant to avoid red trust. Read a lot of threads, share knowledge, learn how bitcoin works and reply your opinion (must be relevant to the topic discussed). Never make irrelevant-post-to-increase-number-of-post post. Just always be actively here in this forum. Wait for 14 days to be promoted. It is very important to post relevant question or opinion and wait patiently to be promoted.

Thanks for the info! Is there anyway to bypass or skip ahead without posting 30 times?

I am looking to post an announcement thread with images but the newbie status has limited my ability?

Here is the new rank requirement released 3 days ago

Rank   Required activity   Required merit
Brand new         0                       0
Newbie         1                             0
Jr Member         30                        0
Member         60                        10
Full Member    120                        100
Sr. Member     240                        250
Hero Member  480                        500

You can find how you get merit here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
and how you get activity:

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

If there was, the rule to make 30 posts would have become useless.
