Egano (EGN) is a privacy-focused and easily mineable single unit cryptocurrency that is based on CryptoNote code.

Egano is designed as untraceable digital currency. Unlike Bitcoin or any currencies derived from it, egano transactions and balances are private.

Privacy features
    Untraceable payments
    Unlinkable transactions
    Blockchain analysis resistance
    (At least) View key needed to check balance

Scalability features
    Adaptive parameters changing after every block
    Single unit (1.0 EGN) divided to 1,000 mEGN or 1,000,000 μEGN (mcEGN) or 1,000,000,000 nEGN (or further up to 18 decimal places)

Chance equality features
    CPU mining, that's why egalitarian. Memory-bound algorithm efficient on CPU and GPU, not ASIC
    Tiny premine (mainnet running few days at standard speed prior to this announcement)
    No ICO
    Bounties described below

Academic and Theory
    See CryptoNote whitepaper: https://cryptonote.org/whitepaper.pdf
    CryptoNote technology user-friendly explained: http://cryptonote.org/inside

    Difficulty: Retargets at every block
    EMISSION_SPEED_FACTOR = 21 (years)
    DIFFICULTY_TARGET = 60 (seconds)

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

In next days (no exact ETA), until then it is only possible to mine it from Linux or (later) using a pool

Any premine ? ( "Tiny" is not a specified amount )
Roadmap?

What are the intended use cases for this coin?
How many individuals are part of the team ?
What developments are planned ?

Also, the Whitewater is the generic crypronote paper.

Were the Devs too lazy to make their own whitepaper ?

Doesn't look good.

Always doubt.

you are mining quite fast, what do you use for mining now? The tiny amount is correct, that is the portion of all coins ever in circulation. The wallet does not support displaying mEGN, μEGN and nEGN yet

Do you offer a transparency? Because I didn't find any information about this. Why I am asking, for example, in the White Paper of LuckyToken I found such info: The lottery mechanism and prize payments are clearly displayed on the Ethereum blockchain and are available for viewing to everyone.
What can you say about EGN?

The transparency can be achieved either by using a separate address with view key known to the sender too or by sending one-time private keys used for the transaction, the txid and recipient address, so the third party can verify. The privacy is more important in EGN than transparency.

yes, the pool was online for about an hour.
Of course we cannot rely on a single pool. Every new pool will be paid a bounty, smaller portion after setting up and the rest after reasonable uptime.

It is better to know how big portion of total you have rather to set up a random big number as total supply. The representation then can be adjusted as needed: mEGN, µEGN, nEGN and so on.

The cryptocurrency is up and running, that's why it was anncounced. The development although still in early stage is going on. Everyone who like the idea may benefit from early knowledge about egano and support it by mining, claiming bounties, developing tools or otherwise contributing. Unlike ICOs this is intended as fully community-contributed cryptocurrency with no exact ETAs of goals.

Nothing ready? There is functional daemon and wallet, the other stuff is just optional.

Linux is free and available to anyone (if you have Windows, you can easily install Virtual Machine), what else would you need to start?

I must say, the developers even provided working Linux binaries for latest Ubuntu, which is very rare to see.  There is no need to recompile!
Just download and use. Many other cryptonote  "shining" coins  like Monero, Intense, Aeon, Sumo ... struggle with this and recompilation and fixing is needed.
This is positive sign for me.

Everything seems to work just fine.
The 1 coin max supply is a bit quirky, but also makes the whole blockchain stand out.
Just for fun today may be interesting project tomorrow.
After the micro nano pico stuff is added I think it would be a bit more readable.
It is not so far from what is done with Iota and Miota.

maybe the same/a similar error like Eurobit has since a few days -> maybe you can get help from Eurobit-devs?
One of our nodes has the same issue, the other is higher (19493) so trying to resync. Will look to Eurobit to find out more about invalid transactions, but if one of the chains wins in the end, there will be just an orphaned branch left behind.

An intentional stress test was done around block 19450 and further. The network was flooded with hundreds of transactions per block, consolidating inputs mined in thousands transactions earlier. It seems that the daemon accepts some malformed inputs and even worse accepts such block broadcasted from another node if it has some matching inputs in mempool.
The only workaround to this until it is further investigated is to resync and mine new branch if your height is increasing and is above 19488, and do daily backups of blockchain database until a reasonable fix is released.

Current height 20561. Every day one of our nodes is reset to second latest backup to catch any sync issues early.

@egano

Hey, I've set up a pool but I can't get the payouts working properly because of the decimals. I had a look at CryptonoteConfig.h but still no luck. Other than that the pool works. What did I do wrong?

Solving the same challenge in order to make our pool working correctly.
Try sending manually the amount shifted by 18 decimal places to the wallet daemon to see what you receive. After that values in config can be changed accordingly.
Independently we test our pool and once working as expected it will be released here including config.
During testing the Wrong anount error always meant insufficient balance older than 60 blocks.

Thanks for the hard work on this. One of our nodes got stuck too while other kept syncing.
See latest release of the daemon, added a lot of improvements, mostly previous fixes already applied to Bytecoin.
Re-sync using the new version and you should be able to continue on height 29063. The solo mining feature was moved from eganod daemon to miner executable.

Seems to be the mempool issue. After deleting everything from /home/user/.egano except blocks.dat and p2pstate.bin the sync should continue. You may get warnings of invalid transactions, those can be ignored, will be removed from any mempool they come from after one day.
Anyway, use the new version of the daemon released today.

I just resyncd the whole chain - no errors in daemon anymore.
BUT wallet still says, that there are no transfers (list_transfers), no balance (balance) and a reset doesn't change anything.
current bc_height 29076...
PLEASE HELP!

mining also does not work anymore...
I want the old version back.  Sad

That's weird. Reset usually takes few minutes to rescan all blocks.
Close wallet, stop daemon. Open wallet, reset, close wallet. Run daemon again and once it is up open wallet and give it a few minutes to scan the chain.

Run daemon again and once it is up open wallet and give it a few minutes to scan the chain.

don't know why, but this method helped!  Grin THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

now there's only the problem with mining:
[wallet abcd1w]: start_mining 4
2018-Jan-18 19:55:49.450566 ERROR   Error: Failed to invoke rpc method: HTTP status: 1

Good job dev, seem to have fixed the chain

However it seems to be issues with found blocks http://egano.cryptonight.me/#pool_blocks

Yes, this is planned further. Chinese would be a bit more effective, this is not ICO so it might be accepted by Asian community too. PM me with your offer.
Before spreading to more general public, a lot of development has to be done though.

Chain seems fixed indeed and both version 1.1 and 1.2 of daemon now can sync, 28 blocks mined earlier around 29056-29084 became orphaned. Anyone who sent transactions yesterday should reset their wallet in the way MrCross did few posts above.
Don't worry of the invalid tx, it will be rejected until it completely disappears by expiring from the last mempool.
We are now above 31000. Thanks everyone for mining!

well i tried to, seems like simplewallet cant open the wallet file...

the issue with Tx fail is that pool sees it as invalid and therefore can not pay miners

Seems like this pool (http://egano.cryptonight.me/) got every Single Block in the last time.
I would mine at this pool, but it seems like it's not paying.
Am I right?

What happens when you manually send payment from one of your wallets to another? Does it say Money successfully sent, Transaction too big, Internal node error or sth else?
My experience from one of my wallets is that when it generates a tx, it is accepted by the daemon but another node logs invalid transaction. The transaction gets to the mempool and is mined by the cryptonight pool. We will look into this further anyway, the blockchain cannot have double spends mined, at least not in the future.

I followed the instructions multiple times..

Both my wallets are still empty even after the 5 minute wallet sync.. What I did notice though is that sometimes after the reset it's synced immediately

displaying the right block height:
[wallet abcd1w]: bc_height
2018-Jan-19 20:20:48.138512 INFO    31341

EDIT: Checked out at commit cb69fc59124fa89f17516ff3b4c3d82804cc714e, built, resynced and the transactions are coming in.
         I forgot to clean up the ~/.egano directory, will clean up and try again with latest release

EDIT2: Nope, no balance with latest version..

correct, dev needs to help address issues with source i believe. can not pay when every block found is considered orphan

Set up a node with 1.1 daemon, sync working to height 31475 (current max)
Running nodes with 1.2 daemon, sync working to the same height.
Blocks mined by pool seem to be accepted by other nodes. Transactions broadcasted at cca 31000 by our nodes were mined by the pool too. If your node sees this chain orphaned, please re-sync.
Testing old and new simplewallet against both versions of daemon and will post results here later.

i've done re-sync again from block 1, let's see if that helps.

will probably still need to fix the TX error

Payment still not working? no more tx error.

blocks found by pool are not accepted but considered to be orphaned... might need some help figuring that out

also getting lots of this in daemon, not sure if related

Code:
2018-Jan-20 07:36:11.963565 WARNING [163.172.37.154:47767 OUT] Exception in connectionHandler: TcpConnection::read

also, simple wallet needs to be able to open wallets generated by walletd, otherwise we are not able to transfer balance out of it

it seems that blocks mined by your pool are added to the blockchain in the end, see some blocks missing in your list, that means there is someone else's block on top of yours every few blocks. Working to resolve walletd vs simplewallet issue

cool thanks.

yes that confuses me too, as im not seeing an error - just that pool is considering all blocks to be orphaned...

My pool seems to be in sync if I compare the mined block height with the other pool

Using pre update daemon & wallet
This is somebody with daemon v1.1 who needs resync or run v1.2, then these blocks will be discarded.

Important: Bug was discovered in reset feature in simplewallet v1.2. For some reason it resyncs only since last alternate chain known by daemon (height 29059). If you don't see coins you received earlier, the easiest way is to stop daemon v1.2, start simplewallet v1.1, reset (reset was there already), close wallet, backup the wallet file (it is small and you can use it instead of reset later),   start daemon v1.1, wait for sync, start simplewallet 1.1, wait for the wallet to reload all txs (use reset again if it just shows prompt without reloading), check balance. Close wallet, backup wallet file again (to save its state), shut down v1.1 daemon and run v1.2 daemon and wallet.
Never run different version of simplewallet against different version of daemon, it will show nonsense balances and will not be able to sync after reset properly, throwing odd errors both in daemon and simplewallet. Even if you do so, follow the reset procedure above, your wallet keys and coins are always safe.

also, simple wallet needs to be able to open wallets generated by walletd, otherwise we are not able to transfer balance out of it

walletd has a container file that can hold multiple wallets. These cannot be made compatible but walletd supports key export using the following RPC json function (same as for BCN):
https://wiki.bytecoin.org/wiki/Get_spend_keys_-_Bytecoin_RPC_Wallet_API

To workaround this simplewallet was added import/export keys feature. To export or import (or reset by re-create) a wallet you need both view key and spend key obtained from walletd API..

that's the thing, im not getting an error in pool - it just doesnt recognize the blocks and consider it orphaned - therefore no payments

Are you sure they are orphaned? Because your pool show the blocks as mined.
Check your pool wallet, should look like this when opening (while it loads the transactions)

There are hardly any transactions in egano network, less than 2000 so far mostly from flooding tests, that's why block size and thus max transaction size is still small.
Sending 0.000005000000000000 often results in Transaction size too big error, but not always. It depends on inputs chosen and seems to be nondeterministic. Try sending slightly smaller amount (0.000004, 0.000003 and so on) two to five times with zero mixin and it will once go through. Remember that the change you get back from selected inputs is locked until the transaction is mined plus 60 blocks.

I just flooded the network with 1786 txs of 0.000001, got payments working on my pool. That amount is the maximum I can send in one tx.. I did manage to get a few 0.00005 working but only a few and then I got the tx size error.

I'm not familiar with CryptoNote, is it normal that the block rewards went down to around 0.000000124958082530 after my tx spam? I think the network needs to work out all the txs.. But why punish the miners by lowering the block reward?
Until now I set the mixins at 3 (pool default) but now it's telling me the number is too high due to the tx spam. I will set it at 0, no need for that functionality in a mining pool I guess.

The block reward is lower if a block is significantly bigger than previous average.
Your pool seems to be working all the time, but not on a list on 185.34.216.108, entropy0 took their one down.
The tx spam caused v1.1 daemon to report invalid blocks, the fix is to delete just blockscache.dat, no need to delete p2pcache or resync.

Exchange and coinmarketcap is planned after online block explorer
Wallet had some improvements to do and Windows one is under development. No exact ETA so far.
Total supply is 1 divideable to 18 decimal places. No need to recompute how big portion one owns.
Solo mining is still reasonable and CryptoNight is CPU friendly algorithm

Now it seems like the pools block unlocker is stuck.. and therefore not sending payments anymore (probably due to pool config).
I upgraded to v1.2 again and the pool wallet is working.. but not my miners wallet. I don't understand why, I used the same upgrade instructions on both. I tried importing the privkey into a new wallet and it still shows empty.. The only difference is that the pool wallet runs 24/7.

I think I will just continue solo mining until there is a verified by dev pool config because every day there is a problem.

There is a new exchange, tradeogre.com, who have only cryptonote coins + btc and ltc currently.
It may be a good first exchange, but I have no idea about who is running it and when they'll run away with the money.
Very little info to find about who is behind it.

The ongoing thing on the roadmap is to fix simplewallet v1.2 reset/sync issue so it shows correct balances. Then the development can continue and after setting up more pools, windows binaries and web block explorer, this coin can be traded on exchanges.

If you are familiar with forknote and want to test egano using forknote binaries, here is the config:
Code:

Unfortunately the sync issue affects forknote implementation too, even with --SYNC_FROM_ZERO option.

Hi Egano,

How does the block reward looks like?
My pool shows "Last Reward: 0.0000 EGN"

This is my Payment setting in node:
Code:
  "payments": {
        "enabled": true,
        "interval": 600,
        "maxAddresses": 50,
        "mixin": 2,
        "transferFee": 100,
        "minPayment": 100000000,
        "maxTransactionAmount": 0,
        "denomination": 1000000
    },

And there are so many Orphan Blocks. From height: 49226 - 49437.

Hello, you need to update your payment and coin units
Code:
 "coin": "Egano",
    "symbol": "mEGN",
    "coinUnits": 1000000000000,
Code:
 "payments": {
        "enabled": false,

        "mixin": 0,
        "transferFee": 10000000000,
        "minPayment": 1000000000000,
        "maxTransactionAmount": 0,
        "denomination": 1000000
    },
and it called micro Egano, little hard to use. total just 1 Egano. so with confige above it'll appear as Reward: 0.004 mEGN (mili Egano?)
p/s: merit me if you see that help you Wink

But is "Last Reward: 0.4657 MEGN"

To resolve the Orphan block after unlocked, I have followed this guide.

Any progress on wallet sync issues and the coin?
Yes, everyone having wallet sync issues please edit src/CryptoNoteConfig.h and change BLOCKS_IDS_SYNCHRONIZING_DEFAULT_COUNT to 1000 and rebuild.
Updated binary and source released.
Run simplewallet, wait until it is synced, optionally run set_log 5 and then reset. The issue was fetching 10000 blocks at once instead of 100.

The next objective to do is block explorer.

I used paper wallet generator at seed6.egano.net/paper/

Can it be imported to the one you uploaded?

Hmm, i'm not sure.. but when you launch the wallet it gives you the option to import your wallet. You will then be asked for a filename, password and then your keys.

You first need to start the daemon, and let it sync. Before you can start the wallet. To speed up the sync, download the blockchain file.

This is not yet the official win wallet, i think it's still in the pipeline. This is made using the forknote config that someone posted (just edited the seed nodes so it will work). I just combined it into one neat package so people could get in easily.

Hi, what exactly do you want this for? Setting up a wallet for an exchange? Run eganod and then run walletd, first with "-g" and later use some of these options:
./walletd --help

Common Options:
  -c [ --config ] arg                configuration file
  -h [ --help ]                      produce this help message and exit
  --local                            start with local node (remote is default)
  --testnet                          testnet mode
  --version                          Output version information
  --data-dir arg (=/root/.egano)     Specify data directory
  --bind-address arg (=0.0.0.0)      payment service bind address
  --bind-port arg (=8070)            payment service bind port
  -w [ --container-file ] arg        container file
  -p [ --container-password ] arg    container password
  -g [ --generate-container ]        generate new container file with one
                                     wallet and exit
  -d [ --daemon ]                    run as daemon in Unix or as service in
                                     Windows
  -l [ --log-file ] arg              log file
  --server-root arg                  server root. The service will use it as
                                     working directory. Don't set it if don't
                                     want to change it
  --log-level arg                    log level
  --address                          print wallet addresses and exit

Remote Node Options:
  --daemon-address arg (=localhost)  eganod address
  --daemon-port arg (=47867)         eganod port

Local Node Options:
  --p2p-bind-ip arg (=0.0.0.0)       Interface for p2p network protocol
  --p2p-bind-port arg (=47767)       Port for p2p network protocol
  --p2p-external-port arg (=0)       External port for p2p network protocol (if
                                     port forwarding used with NAT)
  --allow-local-ip                   Allow local ip add to peer list, mostly in
                                     debug purposes
  --add-peer arg                     Manually add peer to local peerlist
  --add-priority-node arg            Specify list of peers to connect to and
                                     attempt to keep the connection open
  --add-exclusive-node arg           Specify list of peers to connect to only.
                                     If this option is given the options
                                     add-priority-node and seed-node are
                                     ignored
  --seed-node arg                    Connect to a node to retrieve peer
                                     addresses, and disconnect
  --hide-my-port                     Do not announce yourself as peerlist
                                     candidate

Of course, it is not necessary to commit to a working code every week if the daemon and wallet work. We plan to add more RPC procedures for easier use by exchanges, pools and explorers.

@egano
the owner of egn.hashpool.frl has shut down his mining pool.
He say it is because the wallet only allows payments of 0.2 uEGN
Also he believes this coin is dead.
Really there is very few people mining EGN maybe you should make some update or something.
