Well, thank god we have had our year of revenge.

After 8 years of jerkoffs making tulip comments and trying to change the subject of conversation, now I am the one who is finally trying to change the subject. I can't get every tom, dick and harry I run into to stop talking about it. I was recently at a conference and speakers were hijacking sessions to talk about Bitcoins. I mean, literally, the forum would be on world peace or something and the panelists are talking about Bitcoins (in a completely ignorant way of course).

It is sweet revenge to point out to these jokers: you know I was telling to learn about this stuff 5 years ago, Bob....

It's like they forget that you told them. Luckily they can't deny it because back in 2011, I gave everybody I knew a Casascius token. If they deny that I lectured them about it, I just say, "So, do you still have that Casascius token I gave you... ?"

I am still hearing people saying that shit all they long on all the other external forums.

it is very exhausting to see how a lot of people are always replying to someone who is talking about bitcoins with "they all are tulips, google that, and you will see that the same is going to happen"

Everyday i am hearing everytime more about bitcoin, it is the new millenial way to make money easily.

Bitcoin is here to stay, and it can not be compared to that bubble.

It is sweet revenge to point out to these jokers: you know I was telling to learn about this stuff 5 years ago, Bob...

yeah, it's pretty surreal. people who laughed at me for being involved with BTC years ago are now trying to spam their latest shitcoin holdings on me. i'm not sure how to feel. on one hand, i'm happy that cryptocurrency is hitting the mainstream. this is what we all prepared for over the last few years.

at the same time, it almost feels "trendy" now. frankly, i'm tired of people asking about bitcoin. i saw a flyer plastered to a telephone poll yesterday for a "bitcoin consultant." people had pulled off all the tabs. i guess business is good. maybe i should start monetizing this stuff instead of letting people pick my brain for free. Tongue

It is sweet revenge to point out to these jokers: you know I was telling to learn about this stuff 5 years ago, Bob....

don't worry. if the market makes another wave down to new lows, or we have another year-long bear market, we will be overwhelmed with comments about tulips and popped bubbles. just wait for it.

I remember how even a few years ago people thought that Bitcoin is a stupid money for nerds, while more technical people were claiming that it's unrealistic utopia. It seems like mainstream media attention is all you need to change popular opinion - everyone suddenly love Bitcoin and wish they bought it a few years ago. I'm sure many of those noobs will learn a painful lesson when their exchange accounts will get hacked, or when they download a malicious wallet, or invest in scam shitcoin. Bitcoin is not really a free money if you have bought low, you had also invest your time in education to not lose those coins. If adoption will continue, many experienced bitcoiners can start providing paid consulting services to monetize all the years they've spent in this community.

Bitcoin is definitely painted in a much more positive light these days. I even hear about Bitcoin seminars in my area, which is an idea I chuckle at. They charge like $10 a slot, which is ridiculous, but I guess it's a good sign for Bitcoin that people are actually buying into that. Heck, people seem to be starting schemes claiming to be Bitcoin investments just because of how bullish the general public is on it. Bitcoin exploded on 2017's end, and it still has a lot of momentum.

I'm not complaining, but it's gotten popular to the point that the network can't handle the transaction volume anymore. Just goes to show you can't have it all good. For now, I hope Bitcoin just settles down a bit until we get significant Segwit adoption and the Lightning Network.

I guess this is how mainstream society works...and speaks at how change is always resisted by the community ...but with increasing momentum there....the critics become believers and then in hindsight they will regret not buying it earlier.

I think it's important that those who led the pack and bought early don't let it get to their heads..
Yes it's bloody annoying that your best friend who once called it a tulip and a Ponzi scheme is now the very same friend who has holdings and it's all he talks about...
It's important not to lose sight of why Bitcoin as started...it's to decentralised and empower society and evenly distribute the wealth for the impoverished and enslaved. Those who have benefitted from their visionary insight to buy Bitcoin years ago should now see this as an opportunity to contribute further to society through social good , optimism and altruism to an extent.

The power is now in all our hands...let's make the world a better place from how it was in the past !!

to be fair i believe most of those who were denying it (the critics) calling bitcoin a bubble, tulip,... specially those most vocal have been the biggest believers in bitcoin. they just didn't want it to go high as fast so that they could buy more of it by keeping others away as long as they could.
the rise would have happened inevitably and the FUD always loses its effect at some point.
