The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

will it have backdoor checkpoints like DGC? i asked in another thread and never saw a reply.

The answer was no. I guess it will be secure enough not to need it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=251782.msg2913536#msg2913536

So 3 coins dgc/arg/src all different and all working together to bring useful crypto coins to the masses. The three amigos!  Grin

Can't wait for the exchange screenshots in 3-4 days.

Congrats so far Baritus on being innovative, enthusiastic, informative and community orientated with your work on these coins so far. Real useful services just around the corner. Hard work, smart ideas and no BS will prove the doubters wrong. Keep it up!

ah, good deal. despite my initial concerns(taking on a 3rd coin) i will still mine/support this one. i'm sure it will be top notch as all baritus coins have shown to be.

i have but one small request, has the possibility been explored of taking ppcoins automated PoS checkpoint system and possibly manipulate it to work with Proof of Work blocks(ie making automated, periodic checkpoints)

i'll hang up and listen.

My negative trust rating is reflective of a personal vendetta by someone on default trust.

I am excited for this coin. I just hope it is not released during Burningman because I would love to bet there from the start. This might be kinda hard in the desert 2k miles from my house..

Though I do agree with some others my first though was "another coin ?" but I think the in long run it will only add to DGC. I like the idea of mining both at once.

The source will of course be available at launch.

As this progresses, will an exact release time be specified or will it just be released within a ballpark time frame?
For example: "August 20th at 12PM UTC" vs "the week of August 12th."

There will be an exact time announced at least 24 hours beforehand.

Also, DGC is the only coin I developed so far.

@r3wt

I'll consider that and see how it fits in with the rest.

I agree with rewt.  If you added PoS to sifcoin, then we are talking about a real deal coin.

or another way to look at it would be adding quark hashing to Yac.

Well, i dont think they can be stopped? it seems vps clusters are the real pest to normal folks getting a fair chance at mining.

Then again if someone wrote an automated linux install bash script for it like one guy on here did from primecoin then even newbies and those that don't know linux can have the option of investing in vps nodes to grab some coins.

Exactly. Im an amateur when it comes to linux but guides like that make a huge difference and have given me lots of success with coins like YAC, XPM and even QRK.

Keeping my eye on this coin as well. Got a good feeling about this one.

We're looking at one week as the best ETA.

There's a lot of testing that needs to be done on a few fronts.

I'm not sure I'm following - is there a GPU miner for quarkcoin?
Almost done, 1.2MHs on 6770, still plenty of room for optimization. Not sure that I will release it, SRC coin is approaching Smiley

Gigawatt is actually very helpful to a lot of people, i think if he puts the address of the new coin in his sig people should donate a bit if he helps them. Not everyone have prime and bitcoins, but say quarks or whatever new coin he makes a install prog for then people should give a few blocks for his help, because without him you may not be able to mine coins
