New, first post.
After reading trying to get my perceptions crypto,  I gather I need a wallet.
Can this wallet be in a usb stick rather than a computer, tablet/ android etc ?

My reason for this question is because many things these days has it's limits as in in "use by time",  or they simply break down and data cannot be recovered.
Thanks

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

The type of wallet depends on the currency you want to keep in it. Devs of different coins have come up different wallets.
If talk specifically about bitcoin then there are several android and IOS wallets aswell like Jaxx wallet.
May be if you are more specific in type of currency you want to store, people will be able to help out more.

I'd reckon storing your wallet on flash storage is much better than on a single HDD. Keep multiple backups.

And if you're planning for long term storage, make a paper wallet and store it somewhere safe or put it in cold storage on an air-gapped machine.

Hardware wallet always an option too.

USBs are a good idea. If you run windows encrypt it with bitlocker as well; not saying it'd stop someone, but it'd do a good bloody job at trying.

And yes, multiple backups; keep one at home, one at work, one at parent's house; but ensure they're all encrypted (please).

Good luck Smiley

A USB stick (ideally encrypted) is a fine way to store a wallet. The attack surface is considerably smaller than a hardware wallet, and the security model is well understood.

But the problem you point out for computers and tablets applies to USB sticks as well. Their data can become corrupted too. Sometimes they fail and need to be formatted, rendering the data useless.

No matter what medium you use to store your wallet data, you should always have multiple backup plans. You should have more than one copy of your wallet and ideally, you should have a recovery seed (12 or 24-word phrase that can recover your wallet in case of hardware failure). Most modern wallets (Electrum, Trezor, Jaxx, Blockchain.info) provide recovery keys now.
