Hi community,

As you may know, there is a forum DB dump from 2014.

I'm watching the Forum Security Log and recently it's full of passwords, changed by email:

"password reset via email"

So I'm thinking that hackers are now exploiting accounts with fake/not real emails and they are registering those emails to reset the passwords.

What do you think? Do I have a point? I'm changing mine anyway...

Have you been living in a cave? This has been going on for months, if not years and most people who check Meta should be aware of it. e.g. theymos added the option to lock the account via email once the password changes and similar.

You can safely lock this thread.

I'm not living in a cave... and seems you didn't read what I wrote.

I'm talking about accounts with mails like

accoskjrkdlkaoi32@gmail.com who are NOT yet registered till now. Mine was like this before change it today.

I think hackers are now checking the dump for weird looking emails and then they are registering. theymos functions is useless in this case because by this  hackers are getting  the original associated with accounts mails.

This is only way  I can exlain to myself the whole bunch of "password reset via email" lines in Security Log.

You are such a polite person. My bad... after 30+ wakeful hours.

"This is the only way I can explain". Is it better now? I'm done with the off-topic. Do you want to add something topic or?

But I guess your signature is not liking this idea.

Before you make another useless thread in Meta, read back on what's been happening in the last 6 months.
