Read my last statement, it is just the fact that mostly newbies are the one who's complaining in this system. (I'm serious)

Edit: if a member is confident enough with the content of his/her posts without having merit as a subject, there should be no complains or anything. You will receive merit in time whatever your rank is.

I agree that to get merit is very tough. I am like you ,I also get 1 merit till now.
<...>
Been there, done that. Stay strong bro! lol

Anyway, the fact: we cannot do meaningful discussion in Bitcoin Discussion & Altcoin Discussion. I'm not a fan of a reputation point, but I don't care as long as this will make mentioned boards "great again." At least now many interesting topics arise in Development & Technical Discussion. #clap

I think bitcointalk is forum/opinion which helps the people to discuss themselves about crypto-currency. But it's also a place where people can find earning method and people discuss themselves about this. And everybody knows that Bitcointalk is not a place for competition, it' forum through people can learn about crypto-world so that they can use their knowledge in their future work about crypto currency. So, the people should not make any competition, just learn from here and use them in your works. You will be able to solve any of your problems. Best of luck✌✌
I agree with you. maximum people join this forum only for earning money but no read about and help others so. I think merit system is best one system for stop spammer & shitposter. but merit system hard for all people rank up, I do not think there is a need for a word or something to say here, it's a matter of itself alone.

it is an irony when in the title you said merit system fact yet your post is about your opinion  Grin
Yeah, it really got me. When I saw the threads title when I visit Meta section I thought it was really a fact. But it got me wrong, it's just a shitpost containing nothing but a shit. Yet, OP is still encouraged to create such a thread without knowing it's real content. Merit? To stop scammers?

Well, let's just hope that this one is not the last post we can see about this kind of topic that has been posted over and over again  Cheesy Looks like Bitcointalk is in a loop of these shitposters trying to manipulate us by their repeatedly nonsense topics.

Giving merits for threads like that is the green light! Will see them more. Better to ignore such treads and force to lock it. Whoever wants to make the thread about merits should learn how to prove their opinions, not just state something as a fact.
I really like zentdex's threads, he's giving heads up about merit situation in the forum for some period of time. Data are not subjective and not lying. Did we really reduce the number of spam posts since the introduction of merit system? Can you prove it by some sort of graph?

That's not right. Newbie and junior members are seen to be small in all places.
Dont generalize bitcointalk forum to be the same as the people you see in every place of earth.

And I think it should not be yours. Because you were once a newbie.
I dont know about him but when I was a newbie I never even ventured into this "Meta" section. Rather would look around a lot more and read a lot more than post anything.

And now in the present system, Merit is needed to move from any rank to higher rank, and for which the Merit source has to be dependent and the rules that they give is to be followed. Then they give merit as a reward. Hopefully you reach the high rank of Merit which was given by the seniors.
If you come to this forum with the intention of getting ranked up within a month or so- please leave this forum. This forum is made for discussions about crypto and not a place for pajeets to shitpost and vomitpost to get paid blabbering every bit of nonsense they can make up from their donkeybrains.

Quote
And please do not look at the newbie and junior members in a small eye. They have to follow this method to reach them even higher rank. Even you also follow this system.
If they are being a crybaby about merit they will get added to the ignore lists of merit sources - Live with that.

You mainly just replace 2-3 word posts farming activity with something that's spammy in a completely different way.. one of the biggest problems I see in trying to be helpful (and hell I even do this) is you end up talking a lot more at the poster, and less in covering conversations... I see posts with 300 pages of responses still giving the OP advice, lol.   Maybe that's better than spammers.. who knows..  I certainly feel like I post differently because of merit, I'm just not sure that the difference is all that much more constructive.  People are really good at BSing the system, so it becomes a balancing act of being who you are vs what you perceive others want you to be.

my opinion:
1. merit system is good to stop some scammer.
2. but it is also a bad thing for those who are not scammer and not getting rank up for this hard system.

Actually it is very hard to get merit.
sometimes you are writing some good thing or good topic but you are not getting merit because a good viewer did not see your post or thread.

So guys! what is your opinion about this Merit system?

It is a rule and must be obeyed. For those who want to rise to a higher rank, merit is the only mandatory key we must have. Maybe we've made a post that we think is good, but not necessarily others think it's good. Emotionally and it is normal we will always assume that what we do is the best because it is based on our own judgment, but according to the general view it is not necessarily good.

I will advice you to forget about the merit system and just go about your activities here. Use the forum for what it's meant for and with time, your posts will be noticed and viola merits will start pouring in. Engage in conversation, make yourself popular through your constructive posts. All the best.

Merit is actually good but I find it difficult to get. So it is very difficult to rank up, but if your post is very beneficial to people on this platform, you will be rewarded with a merit to move up in ranks.

As it stands, it is currently broken. It is simply too hard to obtain merit despite the quality of your posts, which is difficult in its own right to even get many opportunities because honestly there are very few quality discussions on this forum to begin with. I think if members hadn't been grandfathered in there would be far more outcry than there is.

However, I do think the current system can be improved substantially to give us something more functional. It's current incarnation is unacceptable though, in my opinion.

all contents snipped
The fact is, over-quoted, boring content threads like this one will definitely never receive any merit point.

I agree that merits are difficult to get but if you read the post about the good old days of this forum, I'm sure you will feel so small that you even feel very reluctant to post. Let alone complaining about not getting merits and not ranking up. That's what happened to me. Every discussion were contributed from different perspectives, both tech and ideas.
