Is uptime important? (WiFi BitCoin Heater on wheels.)

My 6870 from eBay has arrived, so the next step is to stick it in a case and get it all working.

I plan to set it up on a trolley so it can be used as a portable low-powered space heater.

Is uptime important in mining, or will rebooting it to relocate it from room to room put it at a significant disadvantage? I have an old 500VA UPS that I can add to it if necessary.

Assuming you're mining on a pool: If you don't mind losing bitcoins for that time, then it doesn't matter. Your rig will produce a certain amount of bitcoins per hour/minute, exactly the amount of downtime will be lost. But once you reboot, fire up your miners again and you should be fine.

Nice idea though, you should get that name patented, I really like the sound of it

You will only lose the few shares you could have created during those few minutes you spent moving the rig around. So no, no real issue with a few minutes of downtime here and there.

You could purchase a UPS to place in front of your PSU and guarantee no downtime ever if you really wanted to
