A Wall Street consultancy's crypto report - and it should strike fear into the heart of every bitcoin bull/user

Quinlan & Associates put out a report Thursday titled "Fool's Gold: Unearthing The World of Cryptocurrency" in which they outline a case for bitcoin dropping to $1,800 by December 2018.

Here's the report:

"As an asset, we valued Bitcoin using a cost of production approach and a store of value approach, resulting in values of USD 2,161 and USD 687 respectively. To value BTC as a currency, we estimated its utilization for both legal, retail transactions payments, as well as payments in the black market. After significant testing, we calculated the price of BTC 1 to be USD 1,780."

At its current valuation, the consultancy concludes bitcoin is a bubble "waiting to burst." If bitcoin is not adopted as payment method, the firm predicts a major bitcoin correction to $1,800 that'll also drag the cryptocurrency market down 70% to $223 billion later this year from its current position above $700 billion.

I don't think so, not only because the goverments ban Bitcoin will lead Bitcoin into a crisis . Bitcoin already been through all those, so it's maybe a game of Pump and Dump.

There is no basis for this prediction. In my opinion, it will be at least $30000 by the end of this year.
and where will $800,000,000,000 come from for 1 bitcoin = $30,000 ?? There is no basis for your prediction

Bitcoin will be at least $30000 by the end of this year. There is no way it will be $1800.

I don't think it can deep that low. With what has happened, the price is somewhat having a limit to the dip because of the volume in circulation.

It's absolute no sense a prediction like that...in a market like cryptocurrencies a long term vision is just a hope.

From the same people that said Bitcoin will collapse in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

I'll buy you all a drink if it does.

there is nothing impossible in the world of crypto, including bitcoin to the price of 1800$, but that's just a prediction. But we can say bitcoin down to the price of 1000$ at the end of 2018, but it must be based on strong analysis and fundamentals. this is logically until the end of the year it seems difficult bitcoin to the price of 1800 $ considering the interest in bitcoin has grown rapidly indicated by bitcoin users from year to year is growing

I am not a trader, but i rather think it will get over 20k despite all the regulations that will come in cryptopia in 2018.

If Quinlan & Associates are being serious then they should short BTC futures. Put your money where your mouth is.

But of course they won't...

Nope that will never happen.
Bitcoin will not go down lower than 10.000$

This is a pretty insane thing to predict, it is certainly not "guaranteed" to not go under 10$k and there is a good chance it will.

Okay yea maybe it can go lower than 10k , but it will never hit 1k !
If it goes lower than 10k it will go to 7k max.
No one knows what will be the price of bitcoin at the end of 2018 but 1 thing for sure i'm confident it will not drop @ 1800$.  Year on year you can see BTC price chart fall at the first quarter of the year and may start recover again  in the late part of the second quarter onward. if Bitcoin will fall in 1800$ all crypto coins may affected and that would be a collapse for crypto world. BTC price has huge effect to other coins whether it is going down or going up.

it is very difficult to estimate the price of bitcoin end of 2018 even daily or monthly. No one knows what bitcoin is going to happen if you believe in those fake news and that you have no confidence in the bitcoin platform right now that you'll be thinking about where you're moving to earning such a great deal.

For me, it is not literally accurate. Because $1,800 price for Bitcoin was really too far from its current price which is already on the range of $12,000 and up. I think it will not be possible that Bitcoin price will be dropping into that price because Bitcoin have already set its price into the top and it will be too ironic that after a great pump is it will suddenly go drop into the price of $1,800. I also think that was not really possible because of the massive population Bitcoin community currently have, Bitcoin price can no longer drop into the price of $1,800 at the end of 2018.
