Took a look at your site. OpenVZ VPSs were expensive and KVM VPSs were surprisingly cheap. What's the catch?

No catch, we got the KVM server hardware cheaper hence the cheaper rates Smiley

$2.... How do you do it?

Say 200 clients per server, @ 5GB each - 1000GB.

200 clients @ 100GB each - 20 TB.

200 clients gains $400.

a server of 1tb, 20tb a month b/w - Thats costing on or just over 400 a month.

I don't see how it is a sustainable model with such pricing?

You can get 1 TB HDD + unmetered bandwidth for much cheaper than $400, PM me and I can share some links Smiley

Plus you can get loads of other configs around with 128 GB RAM etc for less than $200 Smiley

EDIT: But yes, It isn't very profitable, but its meant to allow clients to give our services a try at a low cost Smiley

The more data that is on a hard drive the slower it will run. We always leave around 20% open no matter waht to prevent problems in the future with space. Also you should raid the drives. My setup for my servers is we run 2-4 hard drives per server. usually 1tb each. We always cut our drives in half with raid and mirror them in case a drive fails. You have a backup there. We also hold a server dedicated to system backups which are always being processed and updated to be sure that all information is safe. That way if all the drives failed in a server we still have a backup, and if 1 drive failes we still have the data and can keep the server online without any interruptions. Although hard drives fail rate is fairly low. but it’s always a good idea to take advantages of raid and backup servers and be able to provide a 99.9% uptime rate (We currently have 100% uptime with our services).

The only reason we took these steps is because we had a old hosting provider when me and my buddies had personal webhosting. We ended up loosing tons of data that was stored on the servers because of a hard drive failure.

I do know plesk and cpanel have auto backup features that can export data to a remote location. Our vps service has this setup to. I highly reccomend this in any of your setups to protect your clients and provde the best uptime and service possible Smiley

Yep, that's true, the more full it is, naturally the more disk IO usage which makes it slower, we go with 1 TB x 4 in Hardware RAID10 on all our servers which gives ~1.7 TB usable storage and about 170 - 250 MB/s disk I/O, which is pretty good for a SATA based setup Smiley
