We are proud and happy to announce the release of the new Antminer A3, a new Antminer model for mining cryptocurrencies based on the hashing algorithm Blake(2b).
The Antminer A3 delivers a hash rate of 815GH/s (±5%) with a power efficiency of 1.56mJ/MH (+7%).
It is ready to order now and will ship within 10 working days from the time when the order payment is completely received by Bitmain.
Regards,

The Antminer A3 is still in stock. You may intermittently receive the sold out notification, a result of a new way that our team is implementing to avoid hoarding by some retailers. We will announce after the batch is really sold out. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

what a game of centralization bitmain is playing first most of the processing power for bitcoin is centralized in china and the asic companies such as bitmain then just accepting bitcoin cash for a pump for bch and now killing another algo profitability by releasing an asic which will not be remain profitable after a few months

Is it true that they only allowed 1 per account? If that's true, they're washing some of the sins they committed with the D3. They've never delivered this fast though. Which leads me to believe that they're really trying their hardest to bankrupt the competition.

I thought we learned a lesson from the D3 disaster. At least with the D3, there're a few coins using X11 other than DASH you can mine, with Blake (2b) it is only Siacoin. I'm out.

It opens again guys ...
Hurry up
---------
We've just re-opened the same Antminer A3 batch!
To avoid hoarding by resellers and to ensure more users in different time zones can purchase an Antminer A3 unit, we will be re-opening the same batch after every hour beginning 11AM (18 Jan, GMT+8).
Thus, you may intermittently notice that the batch is out of stock. We will announce on our Facebook and Twitter accounts as soon as the batch is completely out of stock.

with Blake (2b) it is only Siacoin. I'm out.
I envision many revivals of half-dead coins with a migration to the Blake2b hashing algorithm or other PoW algos. The last 2 months have shown that forks, coin swaps and the change of consensus rules may launch any trash coin to a ballistic trajectory. Despite all the hate against Bitmain, they won't leave the business nowhere in the near future. Don't be amazed to see a x3-x10 pump in the midcaps they are targeting.

Before anyone else jumps on this, remember that there's already another Siacoin ASIC being shipped from https://obelisk.tech/ They're already doing batch 2 so the hashrate might already skyrocket before these Bitmain ones even ship out.

I mean in this market even with buying the coins, does it have the same return as it did before? Cause we're not in the same sort of bull market we were before, nor are we in a bear market. We're in something in between. Wish I got into mining a long time ago, would've made a ton of money throughout all of this. Wish I didn't get into trading alts and BTC but that's what I'm stuck with now.

Wasn't the fork threat more about Bitmains ethical practices in the mining community more than just competition for the other device?
I read as they are taking a "wait and see" approach before implementing any soft fork

You should only enter the EIN or the SSN, but not both.

Exactly. They will not make a move unless they start to see empty blocks being mined or a 51% attack. Bitmain is unlikely to do either of these things because they have the common sense not to. They know that damaging the (currently) small mining community for Siacoin would only hurt Sia, and thus hurt their sales of Sia mining ASICs.

Don't confuse the hard fork of block 139000 with the soft fork to fight bitmain. The hard block will happen and make block time average be 10 mins instead of 30. Minted coins will multiply by 3, happy miners. The other one I won't go into.

It'll probably be earning about the same next year too. Since we won't get ours until a week after big Chinese farms and all... I'm hedging bets and am dual mining Sia until the difficulty goes up.

the difficulty will rise so hard after 1-2 batches that the A3 will not be profitable.. like the D3
1 day after the D3 release everybody posted calculators with earnings of 8000usd per month.. look where are we since weeks

Considering the turnaround on the A3s, I'd assume they're all packaging and labeling shipments all week or so. Also I sent a question and they got back to me within a day. They didn't, you know, answer it or anything, but they tried.

I am guessing this is a way for customs to track how many rigs one is getting and assessing fees, and that is very low for US customers usually just have to pay brokerage fee.

I have no good feeling by Poloniex, at the moment is the Sia Wallet temp. disabled I think this happend many times on Poloniex
I think it is better to Mine in my local Wallet

It is a simple question but very difficult to answer ... to flood the market has a negative connotation. Bitmain is in business world and their objective is to get the money and sustain the business. The price go up or go down depend on many things ... technically and fundamentally but simply go up and go down is a market mechanism of supply and demand .... you need to trace further ... what create the demand , and how they supply do some research, read slowly ... it is fascinating later you will have a feeling ... to jump in or to exit ...

https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/ev59dz/bitmain-siacoin-obelisk-asic-vorickWhat Happens When a Chinese Giant Swoops In on Your Tiny Cryptocurrency Bitmain maintains a near-monopoly on Bitcoin hardware, now it’s coming for Siacoin. A Chinese cryptocurrency mining giant just swooped in on a tiny cryptocurrency with some high-end hardware, and the developers behind the US-based Siacoin are worried that a foreign shake-up is on the horizon. The cryptocurrency world hasn’t been the same since specialized Bitcoin mining hardware called ASICs first hit the scene back in 2013. Unlike the versatile graphics cards and CPUs found in everyday computers that were originally used to mine Bitcoin, ASICs–short for application-specific integrated circuits—are made to do only one thing incredibly efficiently: Mine cryptocurrency. One of the side effects of the adoption of ASICs by miners is they turned cryptocurrency mining from a niche hobby into a massive industry with a high financial barrier to entry (ASICs cost around $2,000 apiece, and the biggest operators have warehouses full of them). And in the world of ASIC cryptocurrency mining, a Chinese hardware company called Bitmain is king. Not only is Bitmain a chief supplier of ASICs, but it also operates two of the world’s largest Bitcoin mining operations that together account for 39 percent of the entire network’s mining power. Read More: Cryptocurrency Miners are Fueling a GPU Shortage On Wednesday, Bitmain announced it was expanding its mining operations with the Antminer A3, a new ASIC specifically made for a hashing algorithm called BLAKE(2b). This matters, because at the time of writing a small cryptocurrency called Siacoin is one of only two cryptocurrencies that uses BLAKE(2b); the other, Raiblocks, is worth $16 USD per coin compared to Siacoin’s five cents. In comparison, one bitcoin is worth roughly $12,000 at the time of writing. Not only will Bitmain be mining Siacoin itself (though it’s uncertain how much Siacoin mining power is operated by Bitmain), but on Tuesday it also began selling A3 miners to anybody who can pay. This is worrying for Siacoin—the currency of blockchain-based data management platform Sia, which has aspirations of being integrated by Netflix—since large miners have a degree of power in blockchain-based systems. If one company manages to capture more than half of the entire network’s total mining power, for example, they could execute blockchain-damaging attacks. Enlarged status in the community is a factor, too; last year Bitmain played a role in splitting the Bitcoin network in two, which created a competing cryptocurrency called Bitcoin Cash. Not everyone is happy about Bitmain swooping in like this—namely Siacoin co-founder David Vorick, who plans to release his own ASICs for Siacoin in June. Suddenly, Vorick and his ASIC company, called Obelisk, are in competition with a Chinese giant that has a near-monopoly on Bitcoin mining hardware. And making things worse, it’s already beat him to market to mine his own cryptocurrency. On Wednesday, Vorick posted his displeasure to Reddit, saying that the Siacoin developers are worried. “As a developer, Bitmain moving into the Sia space makes me uneasy,” Vorick wrote in a Reddit post on Wednesday. “Bitmain has historically been extremely greedy, and very willing to sacrifice the well-being of the community, of their customers, and of the ecosystem if it means they can make a couple of extra dollars.” Vorick cited Bitmain’s reported 50 percent margins on its hardware and perceived overselling as the reasons for his criticisms. “Bitmain will sell more units than the Sia ecosystem can sustain, and many people end up with large losses,” Vorick wrote in the Reddit post. “Bitmain will not end up with losses, because they were paid up-front with non-refundable money.” The main concern among Siacoin developers, according to Vorick, is that the influx of powerful Bitmain miners will likely drive out less capable GPU and CPU miners on the Siacoin network, centralizing Siacoin mining. And because the difficulty of mining Siacoin increases in proportion to the network’s total mining power—meaning that ASICs will be extremely profitable at first, but mine more slowly over time—mining could be less lucrative for customers who’ve pre-ordered Obelisk ASICs by the time they arrive. In his Reddit post, Vorick broached the possibility that the Siacoin community could implement a change to the mining code so that the Bitmain ASICs would be unusable. However, he noted that this would probably hurt Bitmain customers in the Siacoin community more than Bitmain itself, since the company does the vast majority of its business in other cryptocurrencies and all its ASICs are non-refundable (for what it’s worth, so are Obelisk’s). So, it seems like cooler heads will prevail. “As much as I would like to punch Bitmain in the nose, I don’t think a [code change] achieves what we want,” Vorick wrote on Reddit. Advertisement Indeed, implementing code changes to block various ASICs could turn into a game of Whack-a-Mole—soon after Bitmain started selling their Siacoin ASIC miners on Tuesday afternoon, another Chinese company called Halong Mining announced it is also developing a Siacoin ASIC, although the company has yet to bring an ASIC to market. Vorick told me in a Reddit direct message that he has heard rumors that another company might also be developing a Siacoin ASIC in the coming months. “That means Sia has 4 hardware companies competing and shipping product in Q1 and Q2 of 2018,” Vorick told me in a direct message over Reddit. “Our biggest fear was that one company would come in and control everything.” But, he admitted, “that seems very unlikely at this point.” Still, depending on how many A3s Bitmain sells, there’s still a very real possibility that Vorick’s fears could be realized if Bitmain floods the market before the Obelisk and Halong ASICs are even shipped. Either way, Siacoin’s predicament is a fascinating look at a young cryptocurrency in the middle of tumultuous technological change.

20 USD per day you mean? No, 20 days from reaching payout. Today I stopped dual mining because it said the payout date was incalculable, so that balance will sit there until my A3 arrives I guess.

for other miner L3+, D3, S9 , I keep it under 80 always Seems like the A3 runs loud and hot.... mid to high 70's was average even with it being cool outside while it was running. Not sure why they put so many chips in them. I think they could have made it a 600 GH miner and people would have paid the same price for it. At least then it would have run a bit cooler and not draw sooo much power. 900-1000 watts would have been a better range in my oppinion. Good luck running these in the summer.

received the miner ... directly set up and start mining ... got only 64 USD per day Mine arrived Yesterday after noon, set it up and was mining 115 sia per hour initially. By this moring it was down to 85ish sia per hour. My guess is the bulk of these have now arrived and set up and should settle somewhere around $50 per day. Really wish I used Fedex as those were arriving 4 days ago, but I went with UPS and a damn $72 import fee.

I set up default setting ... temp reach more than 90 Then set the frequency to 500 , all chip's temp under 80. Although mining with lower hash rate ...

By this moring it was down to 85ish sia per hour. My guess is the bulk of these have now arrived and set up and should settle somewhere around $50 per day. Really wish I used Fedex as those were arriving 4 days ago, but I went with UPS and a damn $72 import fee. I always use fedex now , cheaper and faster what else you can ask Yeah, it seems it went FedEx (first deliveries), UPS second, DHL third from all the posts I'm reading.

Usually that is true for me too, but this time UPS delivered within two days of the miner shipping (which happened more like 7-8 days from payment), so I'm pretty happy this time around. But yes, i should probably use Fedex if I order from Bitmain in the future.

what mining pool you are using? and how is the earning? sia.luxor.tech It's the best one I could find, and I've been pretty happy with them so far, though I still have around 800s from dual mining sitting in Nanopool, so I'll have to point it there at some point for a bit to hit the payout. My current earnings are around 1,800-2,000s/d depending on luck, but I expect that to drop.

I don't suggest getting the A3's... their income level will be very low by March i think. only first batch release are going to be somewhat profitable still. Now diff increase super fast and that should be lost for you. just my opinion

Dear user,
Our web shop system is crrently facing unexpected technical issues with order payments.
Because of this we have decided to cancel the Antminer A3 batch releases that were scheduled for 4PM, 9PM and 10PM today (29 January, GMT+8).
If you manged to succesfully place an order during the 2PM batch release today, you need not worry because your order will be shipped as scheduled.
For those who were unable to order during the 2PM batch release or those who planned to order during the other releases today, please stay tuned for the same batch's release at another time this week. We will announce this by email and on our social media accounts as soon as we have resolved our web shop issues and have finalized a time for it.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this sudden cancellation may have caused.
We will continue to investigate this issue to prevent it from occuring again.

Since this doesn't ship until March I actually think this was a good call on their part. The markup on the initial batch is recovered in the first week of mining, and the lower price makes a later batch more appealing. I'm content with just the one A3 (I'm more of a gpu miner anyway), but if I hadn't ordered in the first batch I would definitely consider the second at this price point...

Wouldn't it make sense for people who ordered in the first batch to jump on another one for $980 to average the cost of the miners?

Maybe. It really depends on what happens with the coin and the difficulty, because if it goes the route of the D3 it will be a lot faster to recoup the $2300 or whatever at the current rate than it will be to recoup $980 at, say, $3/day profit.

Dear user,

3. All these releases will have an equal stock and same ship-out date. As the stock in each release is limited, we suggest that you confirm your order by payment while the stocks last.
4. This batch will not be available to purchase for shipping addresses located in Hong Kong.
5. All confirmed orders will start shipping after 15 March 2018.

Can the miner be modify to mine blake2s? The difference of Blake2b and blake2s is the but only. One is 64bit and the other is 32bit. How flexible is the A3 firmware. Can the frequency and fan speed is manually adjusted?

I already checked out the a3 with PSU at 0.87BCH rate and about to make the payment before learning that Blake 2b algorithm is only being used by Siacoin only. I am not going through with the payment anymore, I knew the miner would be useless after a few months but my thoughts was to use it on new coins with Blake 2b algorithm. I also noticed that the miners has been up for grab for more than 2hours now which was impossible with the first batch release; meaning people are no longer interested in buying them anymore. I'm out

Hoping that there will be a new coin with the same POW Usually when the asic miner come to the market, it shows the confidence of the market ( at least the asic miner producer ) with the coin. So the it will enrich the community. I believe the ROI will take longer, but .. the coin will stay and last .

Hi

Anything is possible but I would say unlikely. A lot of these asic coins you see pop up are little more than clones of another coin. Considering SIA has an actual token-like use I think it would be more difficult to clone. Maybe someday though a mutl-algo coin would be created that implements blake2b
