I maybe need about $3000 for the upcoming vacation. Currently hold 0.1BTC but about $12.000 in altcoins.

Any suggestions from experienced traders/members? Sell now or risk it and maybe have to sell even more back in late February (no later than 5-10th March).

Yes, we can guess what you are saying. The sad news is that Bitcoin is down and the value drops below $ 10,000. Everyone is very sad about it

I'm not a pro trader or something, but I honestly can't see it going lower than $9k unless we get some huge bad news. It's really low right now, so if I we're you I'd surely wait it out till Feb. It'd be painful for me to withdraw on the current prices.

Just as the sensible never go all in on buying, why do it selling? Cost averaging makes sense for most people. Sell steadily and slowly. You may end up with less than now or more but at least you're giving yourself that chance. That said I can't see many green shoots appearing for a decent while now but that can change in an instant.

I'm not an experienced trader, but I think the fall may be dragged on for a month or two, so that the simpletons will drain their money. Not the best time to withdraw funds. I would use cash.

Yeah it's kind of important to get those $3000 but I don't want to hurt my altcoin portfolio that much.

I set aside these 0.1btc and usually mine about 0.1btc per month so figured that I will have enough until late February, but this crash is putting my vacation in jeopardy unless I decide to take something from my altcoins, something I really don't want to do.

I'm a holder and not a panic seller, it's just that this crash changed the situation.

I'm already going to use all my cash, but I also need these $3000.

This is certainly not the time to sell bitcoin.

It would definitely be a good bait to wait till Feb,  as market  would be out of this crisis by then.

Alright, I'll wait then.
I can probably even wait until 5-10th March, but I definitely hope it goes back up by then.

Don't listen to anyone else. Their 'advice' will be tied up in their own hopes and fears. Figure out the most pragmatic option that works for you and execute it.

Nah you need money so why care for the current price if you really need it.

Ask yourself on what matters to you, secure your budget for vacation so that you have no worries or "risks" some of it expecting a much more good value. Yes we are sure that crypto price will bounce back but no one knows when. Made a decision by yourself as all responders here don't know what will happened even how experienced they are. There maybe some price increase that will happened later on but within the timeframe of starting today up to before March, price decrease are also bound to happen.

Why don't you need to sell today? At the current price? Don't risk it dude. Just hold on your bitcoins and wait till the price goes up. I'm also not a experience traders, but just used your common sense here. I know that is really painful to see the price of bitcoin crashing below $9K, but I surmised that the road to recovery is just around the corner. Maybe around 24-48 hours we can see the price going green again.

Alright, I'll wait then.
I can probably even wait until 5-10th March, but I definitely hope it goes back up by then.

Cool. By then we hope that the price has already gone up.

Doubt though that the current slump will dragged for the next couple of months. It went below $10K, but last time I see it looks like the price is slowing getting up and just above $10K price, barely.

from december untill the beginning of year January indeed almost for every year the price of major cryptocurrencies is dropped and now hold or sell these two is risky because you can lost all of your money anytime but i personally after seeing similar previous situations such as last year then hold is much better than sold all of my cryptocurrencies asset but like i said before this is risky too however the decission will belong to you OP and don't listen anybody because they probably will trapped you

Good decision. You still have more than a month to decide when to sell your coins at the right price point.

Yes, we can guess what you are saying. The sad news is that Bitcoin is down and the value drops below $ 10,000. Everyone is very sad about it
Not everyone is disappointed about bitcoin's crash. People who want to buy bitcoin would be happy right now because they can buy more bitcoin than before same thing goes with altcoins and also the fees are now slightly cheaper due to the price drop.

If it is that important and you really need the cash and you don't have any other source of income but from crypto, then sell. Prioritization of your needs should come first before your wants. Crypto is here to stay, it's just that you will not be able to know when to enter and exit unless you have set your goal and have a disciplined mindset.

I would guess that waiting is better but there is no guarantee that the price won’t drop further. Why not just hold everything for now and take out a loan for the vacation? Selling is going to give you a loss assuming that you bought recently. I’m not selling anything until everything recovers even if it takes a couple of years.
