Facebook promotion idea

An idea - create a facebook group/page/whatever which contains information about Bitcoin for beginners and every person who "likes" it gets a free bitcoin (well, 0.0001 BTC or something minuscule) sent to an instawallet. Facebook folks love getting something "free" and I can imagine it being a useful way to spread the message. Thoughts?

Maybe instead of using Google to authenticate, Facebook could be used for  http://freebitcoins.appspot.com/

If I port the BTC Economy Plugin (demo, wiki) as a Facebook App, would you guys consider using it? The plugin was written to answer the question of what can someone buy with a bitcoin.

Shaking my head. Shaking my head. These forums have so many good ideas that we're bound to have a terrible one such as this. Bitcoin is supposed to be Anonymous. If you link your bitcoins to Facebook, you're pretty much wearing a "Hello My Name Is" sticker whenever you trade! Not desirable.

Then when you buy some bitmunchies - guess what! - your facebook status updates to "Just bought some slimjimmy bitmunchies for 1.57 BTC". Invasion of privacy. And then when you go to MtGox, you can't escape. Facebook will update again: "Just sold 45.2 BTC at $14.3 each. My MtGox password is 'qwerty7', my SSN is 1438-13-8765, and my credit card is 4638 1357 4875 4682"
This is what you believe and desire, and you are insane for thinking this way.

Then just click Deny Application. Besides, all you really have to do is stop using Facebook, which is something you should do if you care about anonymity

Bitcoins have the ability to be anonymous.  They are not *supposed* to be anything.  You are jumping to conclusions.

This.  It is a great benefit if people choose to use it.  The ability to have many address' always meant to me that you have public ones and private ones.
