Thanks Ranlo - Yes, this user received his withdrawal.

details here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=280487.msg11878945#msg11878945

<snip>

I'm quoting a somewhat old post (12 days ago) for a reason: I want to state that so far, I've only had a delay withdrawing twice. Both times it was due to a low/empty hot wallet, and both times, I got quick responses via email (though I believe the withdrawals ended up taking around 24h).

The last time I made a withdrawal was yesterday, and it was actually pretty quick.

tl;dr: you'll get your coins, it just may take contacting support and giving it a little while.

NP! Just scanned the last few posts and figured I'd go ahead and shed some positive light on everything. And I said this a long time ago (I believe via email) but I stand behind it 100%: I'd rather have a delay (5h, 24h, what have you) than lose everything due to having everything in the hot wallet, Smiley.

BTW, I had spoken to Tim (way back in August 2014) about joining up as a proofreader/editor but aside from showing mutual interest, I had never gotten a response after. Should I toss another over? I try not to be a burden when getting in touch, and apparently hadn't actually sent a ping email after that.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Rolling speeds are insanely slow here compared to pretty much any other dice site. I'll be steering clear until these are updated. Nice site otherwise.

i agree that rolls are pretty slow though the leading dice website primedice also has slow rolls so i think it starts to be tendency that all websites are having slow rolls

Rollin.io is also slow, but BetterBets is quick. You can do upwards of 15 rolls per second if you run a few windows. Default is around 5-6 rolls per second. Definitely worth checking out if you want quick rolls.

Hi Folks - We are still in the midst of the hardware failure, fix agents from our hosting provider should be able to clear things up today.

We do apologize for the downtime!

Also - once things are up, we do have some patches lined up to make the site a bit faster!

Welp, that was a good use of a weekend, lol!

Ok - https://www.peerbet.org/dice/ is back up!

We will have another *scheduled* outage tomorrow, 22:30 PM UTC as we upgrade our web server, and make some code changes to enable faster rolls.

Is there any way to benchmark the roll speed over time? Something I'm liking from AutoDice Pro is that it shows rolls/second, which is awesome for seeing differences after updates.

We'll ask our Ops guy if we can get a breakdown, definitely seems faster for folks in chat!

Speed increases with higher bets but still starts off pretty fast? I hope so. I'll be testing this out today!

Hey Chappy! Many thing were fixed! We'll have stats to share after a week on the new hardware.

There is a database cleanup job that's running now that hasn't run for month unfortunately, so apologies for the short outage. Should be back online shortly.

Agree, that you should have a cold wallet address.

Besides that, I never really tried the provably fair implementation, but I had a look now and do not like the fact that the clientseeds are generated by the server. IMHO this isn't really provably fair. This is the same explanation as in another thread so:

This might be unintentional but IMHO being cheated would be just too easy on this site. I will explain why:

The first thing I don't like is that you have to use "per roll" system instead of the most used and well tested "nonce system" (like JD, PD, PRC, etc.) But that's not the end of the world.

The real problem is that you don't randomize the clientseed each roll (client-side, so in the browser.) This means that unless the player changes his client seed EVERY roll, you know the outcome in advance. Let's say the player is betting with the martingale strategy on 2x with "High". You know the clientseed in advance so can just create a "random_seed" that makes a favorable bet outcome. Basically you could literally make every bet result "Low".

I do not really think you are doing that(!) BUT provably fair is exactly about not having to trust the site owner. IMO your site cannot be really called provably fair at this moment. Also if you would be cheating, in theory the player could also abuse that by playing in a pattern then switching High to Low on crucial bets. Again, I do -not- think you are cheating, but IMO it is _in theory_ possible.

Short term solution:
Create the random clientseed in the browser, ideally with a cryptographically secure method. So also when pressing the "Randomize" button, the clientseed will be generated in the same way and wouldn't come from an AJAX request (only the need serverhash.) And also the first time the player joins your site.

Long term solution:
Make it with the nonce-method like most sites. The biggest advantage is that players can verify 100+ rolls easily in 1 time since they only need to fill in a few seeds to generate all these roll outcomes - instead of several seeds for EVERY bet. There are other advantages like some ways of casino-side-cheating are easier to achieve with the "per roll" system (for example "stalling".) Note: if you implement this method, make sure you do not leak the serverseed anywhere and use a separator between seeds and nonce.

Hope you can improve the provably fair implementation Smiley
