I red a lot about people getting over 700 kh/s with a r9 280x. I got 2 r9 280x Powercolor but cant get over 550kh/s per card.

I have tried out every setting, dont know what to do.

My system:

Mainboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AMD
Processor: AMD FX8320
Ram: 8GB G.Skill SNIPER DDR3-1866 DIMM CL9 Dual Kit
Graphicscard: Powercolor R9 280x
Power supply: Corsair CX 750M

Win 8.1

add this to your cgminer comand:
-I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --temp-target 70 --auto-fan

Also try with core clock speed 1060 and 1080 (--gpu-engine 1080 option in comand) and see which option will give you best result.

I use the following on my R9 280x's. Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64) with 13.11 Beta and cgminer 3.3.1:
Threads = 2
Powertune = 20
Intensity = 13
Core Speed = Huh
Mem Speed = 1500
TC = 8192 (20480 has also worked for some of them)
worksize = 256
lookup gap = 2

You'll notice that I left the Core speed blank. Try starting at the factory-clock speed, and moving up in increments of 5 or 10. This, of course, will vary based upon the specific model.

My Sapphires have a 950 base speed.
My Gigabyte models have it set to 1000.
A powercolor one I googled had 850.

Ironically, setting the core speed to $BASE + 25 seems to be the magic formula for me. I run with 975 on my sapphires (getting 690, might be able to push it more with a larger PSU). My GB models get 710kh at 1025 core.

As they say, each card is different. It's all about tweaking.

I also have powercolor 280x but turbo duo with around 660kH/s. I believe the hash rate varies depending on the brand. I built for a friend a rig with 3 sapphire 280x and each of them get 740-750kH/s. The cgminer configuration is the same with the sapphires and powercolor
-I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192
the sapphires are overclocked a bit but the powercolor seems does not like any over or underclocking from the default 1030/1500. Try clocking your cards the same as mine and use the same config as above.

Try looking for your graphics card on the list below and take a look at the configuration settings that others are using to achieve maximum output from your cards. Although be careful mining will generally increase your temperatures alot so you may want to consider turning up your graphics cards fans with a program such as msi afterburner.

thank you for your response.

The "gpu-threads" setting was the magic key. I changed it to 2 and now im getting over 700 kh/s each card.

tomorrow i will test it out with the memclock and the engine clock and will let you know my best results and settings

I have some Sapphire R9 280x vapour-x cards and these settings give me a constant 740Kh/s to 750Kh/s depending on the card. They are all mounted with a fan on them and average temps are 70C.

--lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 11200 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-75 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 72 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1080 --gpu-powertune -20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale

Nice, could you give your cgminer config and clocks? Would like to try with my card. Thanks.

Hey Guys,

I just bought 2 of these cards which will arrive friday, the Turbo Duo ones. I have got them mainly for bf4 but I would also like to do a bit of mining on the side.

In cgminer if I am running 2 cards that are the same in the same PC do I need to set cgminer for each GPU or will it just use the same setting for both cards and another question is it dangerous
to mine when the cards are in crossfire or do you recommend removing crossfire when mining.

Your help on this will be appreciated.

Hi
I have the same settings and gigabyte 280x.
They were hashing at 710-720 each.
Unfortunatelly after reboot and few windows updates it is not working anymore
One card working at 710 but second only 15-40kh regerdless of pci port or riser.
Swapping cards not helping either.

I had to update config to i20 t1 and now i got only 650kh for each card.

Is psu or mobo broken or it is software issue?

I am a total noob in mining BUT I had a similar problem and solved it by reinstalling the catalyst and sdk drivers.

Here is my story:

GPUs: 4 x 3072MB PowerColor Radeon R9 280X TurboDuo OC Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 (Retail)
Mainboard: ASRock H81 Pro BTC Intel H81 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail
CPU:  Intel Xeon E3-1230v3 4x 3.30GHz So.1150 BOX
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP blau DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 Dual Kit
HD: 64GB SanDisk X110 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s MLC asynchron (SD6SB1M-064G-1022i)
Power Supply: 1250 Watt Seasonic X Series Modular 80+ Gold

My drivers were catalyst 13.10 and AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-Windows-321, windows 7 premium 32 bit.

using sgminer 4.1.0

I decided to install the newer version of the catalyst driver 13.12 (13-12_win7_win8_32_dd_ccc_whql) and the speed droped drastically to around 550Kh/s. After uninstalling the newer catalyst and sdk drivers I am back to around 750Kh/s on 3 cards. The fourth one runs at about 50Kh/s. Still not having a solution for this problem. With 2 or 3 cards there is no problem though. All run at speeds around 750Kh/s.

the config is:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
sgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool.xhash.net:3336 -u rezachkata.godabne -p por --intensity 13 --worksize 256 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1080 --gpu-memclock 1500

*note that sgminer uses only scrypt so it is not needed to use the option "--scypt"

Also tried undervolting the cards to 0.85 - unsuccessful.

Hope that helps!

I found a solution: From the device manager disable and then re-enable 3 of the four gpus and then run the miner again.

For me, the unplug and then plug in the monitor cable doesn't always work besides I am not physically in front of my miner. I manage it mostly remotly with team viewer so this is the perfect solution in my case. Hope this is helpful to somebody.
