Yes merit brings this forum in the better future, but if the intention of the members are only to earn in this forum i think the spammer and shit poster will not be lessen instead they will rejuvenate more members like them. Hope the vision of merit would apply by individual to make this forum will be more competitive.

Every change that is made for this forum is for the better of this forum. I have not been here for long but i already seen so many spam and things, in fact i can be considered as a spammer before time, but merit changed me to level up myself. You can be like me too, everyone can, maybe even better than me.
This is a forum, treat it as a place to gather and talks among the community, and give something good for it, and then you might get a return from it like knowledge, popularity, merit and money as a bonus. In my opinion, it is not a sin if you want to earn money, but if you set it as your main reason to be here and earn it with bad tricks, then it is a big sin and you deserve hell because of it.

Thanks for the explanation. Yet it's very difficult for a newbie to collect merits. Still, I'll try to increase my knowledge regarding the technology, concepts and culture related to blockchain and cryptocurrency. Once I gather enough information, I can start contributing with rich contents and earn merits. But, at the same time, the seniors can encourage us with some free merits .

You were doing good till you posted the last line. Be clear what you want:

1) Learning and improving the quality of posts and earning those merits.

2) Some merits by begging.

You do not need both, believe me.

I agree with you but there's this uncertainty that your efforts will not be even rewarded for it. For example, you replied to a post that you're interested to participate in and you composed a post that you know for yourself that you did everything but is not rewarded for it because they just didn't give any attention to it or it has been buried because there's a lot of people posting in the thread. So it means that there no incentives will be given even if you put ample of time and effort that you can for it? I also agree with the merit system that we have not but I think there's room for improvement because what we wanted to filter out here is spammers populating the forum.

I believe what he's talking about was, there are some Sr. Members extending their hands out to newbies by giving away merits for their quality posts.

The merit has made it very hard to rank up, i wish i were a sr.member before it happened but it happened for a (good) reason.
I think that if they did not do anything to counter all the spambots the forum could start to loose members and not be the central meeting spot for crypto fans all over the world like it is today.

Getting member rank is easy btw, and everything above should be harder to reach than pure activity. If anything the system should have come earlier. If one look at forum as a whole and not just ones own rank at least i can see it quite easy

It's in the OP. The refill of sMerits is done through the sources, the only way everyone else can get more sMerit is to be awarded Merit.

Merit sources
There are 57 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 11975 sMerit per 30 days

Every Merit you receive results in also getting 0.5 sMerit.

When I saw 5 merits, things that I wondered was gone. Truly and absolutely, only I could say THANK YOU VERY MUCH from side by side of my heart. Blood runs back and fort inside my body, SHOUTING YEHEYY with flag merit carry.

The problem is... you have to get noticed by them. So posting 2-3 good quality posts every day won't help and spamming every thread with short posts won't help either.
So what's left? IMHO you've got to make Bitcointalk your main employment if you care about rank.

Personally I have some more-than-standard free time the last days and I can be active in the forums, but I have more questions than answers to give! Not really a chance to reach member status that way. I belive that my fair rank with my knowledge, activity etc should be Member, not Jr. Member nor above Member. Yet I'll have to probably wait like 6 months to reach Member. Yes, I only care for my rank because of signature campaigns, but what's wrong with being paid for doing marketing? It's like accusing an actor for advertising a product he might not be using IRL.

A lot of people asked that but it was not needed if they read OP carefully. That one day will never come as there are merit sources who will some merits to spend each month. Whenever they send merits to members, members will also receive half of merits.

Do not worry about others getting merits by cheating. They will get painted red sooner or later. You are a old member here, it is time for you to share the knowledge you acquired so far.

Wow! I just checked his receive/give of merit and well.. Giving 20 and 21 for meaningless posts. Thoose he received was also quite bad.

But, now that he and thoose he received from runs out the sources hand out to quality post only and thoose people cant give or receive for such bad posts anymore.

Indeed, with a new system like this there must be a disadvantaged, especially clear for the account that is going towards a higher, maybe this system should be applied to the newbie, so they can be better, but because it is going like this we have to be patient and try to more can improve, I also still learn a lot for this.
