My problem with the current merit system is simple: I was a Hero member, my account was hacked and I had to start all over again since I could not get any help with recovering my account.
'Start over again', what does it mean?
Can you explain a bit more about your case?
After the hack, your account's postcounts dropped and you had to collect activities again, or you actually lost the Hero-ranked account forever and had to start from zero with a Newbie account/
Which one is your case?

It means I never got the Hero account back, had to start completely form scratch as a newbie.. No help, had to open a new account and start over. This actually happened twice accounts RJF and RJF19 both hacked and these accounts had good passwords and no leaks from my computer, odd. I reported it both times, no joy.

Enlightening thread....

How do I get Merit to rank up?

Please read the first post. Reading a post like these after 200++ pages makes me kind of mad because there are so many people who has hand that is faster than their brain, they can not even think before asking with a post.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

I have started a thread in the Dutch local section, two months ago. I've still got sMerit to give...

Some say there's a problem with people not willing to give sMerits. Seeing that after several weeks, I still haven't given out all of my sMerits in the Dutch section, I'd rather think there's a problem with people not willing to RECEIVE Merits... Roll Eyes Tongue Embarrassed

Kinda agree with you mate. people are asking too much when they do not deserve even a single merit from their posts, it is like they are just want everything to be easy for themself. Kinda hate this kind of guys and the worst is they do not even know that they are not worthy enough.

This whole line of discussion seems a bit strange because there surely are a lot of merit worthy posts in the forum.. I personally think that it is just a matter of reading through posts.

For example, if you are eager to give away a certain quantity of smerits (let's say 50 smerits), then you could have a target to give away 5 merits per day for 10 days or you could have a target to give away 2 merits per day for 25 days or you could spread those goals over a week or a month or whatever time period is comfortable for you.

Giving away smerits does not seem to be a difficult problem to solve or a bad problem to have, but if you want to attempt some kind of reasonableness or fair distribution (without becoming anal in regards to making the perfect the enemy of the good), then it does take a bit of work to sort the better posts from the less quality posts (all under nearly whatever standard (in your own discretion) you create for yourself).

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

I think it would be great it people looked for high quality posts to give merit to and not just ask people to give it to.

I would look around if I had the merit to give... I am struggling to get it to be trustworthy on my ANN. I will see what happens in the future and hope to get some merit so I can give away sMerit only to the people who deserve it.

Merit system has a purpose of quality posts being posted in the BITCOIN FORUM. But as you go through a topic in the BITCOIN FORUM you will realize that there are only few fixed members who are posting the required way , whereas , others are still posting as if they are only required to have a post daily or so. These members are generally of higher ranks and already merited. However , on the other side it is completely reversed . Even if the BITCOIN FORUM members , who are ranked newbie or junior member, are posting quality posts as per the guidelines, then also they are not getting any merit which is affecting their rank a lot. This has become a headache for some and is not really appreciated because despite the the work required accordingly, they are not being rewarded.

I don't think there is a strict required way(I mean there is no exact recipe) unless your posts are quality, creative and valuble to the forum members.

Quote
whereas , others are still posting as if they are only required to have a post daily or so.
There is no requirement for posting daily unless you're a member of a bounty gangs who asked to bump their ANN threads as per requirement for getting few shitcoinin which created out of thin air.

Oh no you're also a serious bounty Hunter when looking at your post history. It's full of bounty reports only. How about this  if we change what you're saying " Bounty hunters are still posting as if they are only required to have a post daily in ANN threads"

Quote
then also they are not getting any merit which is affecting their rank a lot. This has become a headache for some

Why so worried about merits. I think headaches are only for juniors and new members who willing to participate signature campaigns and earn money but couldn't due to Merit barrier.

Quote
and is not really appreciated because despite the the work required accordingly, they are not being rewarded.

We can't expect every quality post are getting rewarded since it's not a AI process that measures the value of a post. If someone noticed that your post are good and add value to the forum they will surely merited you.

Wrong!
Merit system launched to aim at motivating forum users concentrate on their thread's quality, helpfulness as componental factors to contribute increasing the quality of forum threads, and reducing or eliminating (if possible) shitshows.
In other words, high-qualitied threads are main purposes of merit system.
Merit system has a purpose of quality posts being posted in the BITCOIN FORUM.

Honestly, it is really hard to completely understand what you wrote.
However, I got some of your ideas, and these ones have been repeatedly written, complained by hundreds of forum members.
It doesn't make sense.
So, please stop doing this again. Such a complaining thread like yours is very annoying, and headache.
You - and other members - will not earn any merit by doing this. Hence, why not stop doing this repeatedly!

I think I wrote quite good material and I had so me merit posted to me from people that really liked my posts.
But some post I thought were more well written and documented got no merit and were dumped down on the threads where no one will never look for them.
Sometime is also pure luck. The right post at the right time.

My two cents,

You've been merited on 5 posts out of 32 (they also look like your best posts, but not all have the same degree of content). That is 15%, which is a pretty good percentage really even for some of the top posters on the forum. One cannot be expected to get merited for every post he creates really.

I don't want to focus on getting a lot of merits or new rank. I know for sure that it will happen sooner or later. I'll just focus on sharing, posting and gathering information.

Getting that merit gathering seems very difficult. But I got a merit. This makes me happy and will continue to make valuable posts
You're a Facebook and Twitter spammer, none of those posts is valuable.

How you can call  him a spammer? He is just doing his job as Bounty Hunter.Your job is signature campagne BHunter and his twitter and facebook. Are you signature spammer?
I guess not,i didn´t prove it yet,but everyone get what they deserve, right? But how about this:

"Merit system has a purpose of quality posts being posted in the BITCOIN FORUM. But as you go through a topic in the BITCOIN FORUM you will realize that there are only few fixed members who are posting the required way , whereas , others are still posting as if they are only required to have a post daily or so. Said a guy just after your reply.Thats my thoughts also, lot of you Legenderys got your rank with spaming forums with "high quality posts" (not saying you are the one of them, don´t know you) and job is done. Now you can offend others becouse you are a LEGEND ?

You can call me a spammer,i´m not writing all my post just becouse i have my own opinion and want it to share with all legends here to get merits.I just want to get enough post to be part of some twitter campagne.Just like you at the begining. And we all have a same goal!

Weekly report

One merit sources has been added

Based on your continous analysis on merit distributions in the forum, I have a feeling that the weekly distributed merits has been almost stable with the range from 4000 to 5000 points.
It has been actually sometimes higher, sometimes lower but not significant changes.

I really hope that you have no idea what you are talking about. I will not discuss who is LoyceV,  and what he is done for cryptocurrency community, I'm gonna mention that he is a merit source, but calling him a signature spammer you have to be out of your mind. Check his post history and tell me if you can compare it to yours?

Here is not a place to "work", if you support a project you can put the signature while you discuss different subjects, express your opinion or helping the others. This is not turning you into a worker and for sure this is not a way to make a living out if it.
It should be just a hobby , but spammers like you are abusing the forum and turning it in a main income source.

This is the difference. We have jobs, we have good salaries and here we are trying to popularize the cryptocurrency to be worldwide accepted.
You are just after the easy money, the more, the better. This is what is wrong.
