If Ethereum wants to replace Bitcoin, then the effort must be put in to it now. Bitcoin is facing all sort of issues, like the scaling problem and forks. If Ethereum can't take advantage of it, then some other crypto-currency will do that in the future.

Or you should say Ethereum is next after BTC because i think Ethereum cannot replaced btc in its position now as the king of cryptocurrency. BTC price is getting higher and higher again and for now i think more than times 10 the price of eth to the price of btc.

In my own opinion, ethereum can actually surpass bitcoins in the future due to its demand in the market and if people will focus on altcoins then there is no doubt that bitcoins will be only the second cryptocurrency in the market in the future.

Overall, Ethereum is ranked second so that is obvious enough that after Bitcoin Ethereum is the next in line. But that is only in terms of market cap. We cannot deny that because the records show that. But in terms of influence or potential or even in terms of technology, people might have their own opinions and that Ethereum might not be the second to them. I have heard how Ripple, ADA, NEO, WAVES, and others are also considered second to Bitcoin.

I think the more important aspect of whether these cryptocurrencies can surpass BTC is the contribution of the team behind them. Can the technical team create a better and higher living environment for their cryptocurrencies and apply the cryptocurrencies they create to more? As of now, ethereum has a great foundation and has a good potential. I think it is great to invest with ethereum because maybe it will give us a good profits in the future. I don't think Eth has enough power right now to remove Btc from its throne as the King of Crypto, that's pretty obvious right? As we can see, btc was still able to maintain a huge gap on price between eth and other crypto despite of its continuous downfalls recently.
