Danger: do not try this.  You will void your warranty, re-live the mourning of the loss of your childhood pet, and will likely never ever feel sexually fulfilled if you attempt to perform this modification.  Also, you will likely damage your antminer.  You've been warned.

Results:  The CFM at pressure is very similar to the stock fans on the antminer, but despite this, the box does run about 4 degree C warmer after this modification (when at 600mhz).   However, it is quite a bit quieter now!!

It took some messing around to get the box happily mining without the stock fans.  It seems to really want to maintain a specific RPM on the fans or it stops mining.  My little desk fans max out at 2000rpm (by design, I didn't want loud) so I ultimately had to change things around a bit from what you see here (faster computer fans).

I'm going to let this run for a while and see how it does.

Hi Eric, thats cool, congrats. Do you mind sharing how you managed to get the miner working without the standard fans? Did you have to play around with the software? I need to completely remove my fans on my S9's.

Note the two small fans connected to the controller card just sitting on the table.  Those fake out the controller.

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.
