I don't mean any harm nor want to direspect anyone. This is just my insight about the new merit system. The new system is useful for removing spammers, but is not friendly to all mediocre users here.

1. Newbies are affected of all. They are not yet knowledgeable enough to have quality posts thus have low chance of being given merit points. This will make it difficult for them to rank up. Much more difficult and quite unfair since those who started here with the old rules ranked up easily (not to mention those who are already in Sr., Legendary, and Hero).

2. Jr. Members can't put links in their signature.

3. There are speculations of people buying and selling accounts here. It seems like the new merit system made some people in this forum even more toxic and greedy. Let us all be fair guys.

4. Some question other people giving merit to posts of other people saying "Merit points for that kind of post?!". I think giving merit points to other people is purely personal choice. If a person thinks that post helped him even in little ways then let it be. It was his own personal choice. A lot may think that there is nothing so valuable about that post but maybe to the one who gave it some merit, it is.

That's all. I think the old system and the new system have both positive and negative sides. This is just my insight. Again, I don't mean to disrespect anyone. This is my opinion only. If this violated any rule, I am more than glad to take this post down.

I totally agree that not everyone is helped by this system and I think majority of the users that are helped here are the well known managers and admins in this forum. The gap between those who want to start and the veterans in this forum just become wider. I feel sad for those jr members who just got an opportunity to join their first campaign and have to deal with this unfair system.

I'm not happy with this system too. The numbers are misleading thing. We see how they sell accounts. Perhaps in the future will sell them to the trust. Every man for himself determines the value of the post. I think that it is enough that the Manager of each company defines for itself the quality of the posts of forum members. Sort of a restriction of freedom and an attempt to legitimize inequality. I don't like this idea.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that the new system to work for 4 days before changing rangs. To many it has ruined the plans.

Give it time - once people get used to the idea of giving out merits, there should be plenty flying around.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes you to a new window to give out your merits. I wish they'd do it with a pop-up form that dissapears when you have sent your merit.

I understand that system should be in place for the members to put quality post.  My only concern is the credited merits.  It should be based on the current activity and not just the rank.  For those that are close to ranking up are getting the same merit as those that has recently ranked up.  The people who designed the merit system should consider the accumulated activity when they implement the new system.

I do agree on the thoughts you wan to raised here. the new guideline may eliminate majority of of spam post but this may caused in equality and racist impact to the member who's english language is not will practice like some asian and african countries for those who are living in america and european country may not be affected much of this since  they are well familiar of English language. i do hope admin would be considerate to people who are trying to express their post in english to the best they can do.

I dont know which system is good. Butfor sure I can say one thing new system is harder.

Earlier a user can get upgraded by his/her activity/post which is linked with time. (own Karma)

But now your ranks depends on merit which not on your Karma BUT WHAT OTHER SENIOR MEMBERS WHO CAN GENERATE MERITS THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU DO "

Thats the point. SO what best ?

May be ranks should be a functionof both activity and Merits.

Lesser the mertit more activity required.
One should not be denied on ranks he putup efforts.

Once again no disrespect to any rules, just commenting how this can be made better with bit fairness.

How Exactly the new Merit system works? Is there any clarification some where?  I checked my PM and email and I don't see any email from the forum explaining the merit system.

I agree with how this system favors more of those who are of high rank and how it can affect the growth of those who just joined in. The thing is we have to understand that people has been abusive in this forum and for people to learn, this system has to be implemented. I do agree though how some of the features of the new merit system can be a disadvantage to some but let's take this as an opportunity to learn and be constructive for the betterment of this forum.

You can read this thread to know more about the new merit system. There was no email sent to me too, I just learned about it through this post.

The system has been introduced so the spamming accounts cannot upgrade simply by posting nonsense in multiple posts. This had been happening. You can check the posts of some of the shit-posters and see that it will drive any moderator nuts. I think the merit system does a great job at discouraging this behavior.

The spammers cannot now just make 100 accounts and distribute them to their relatives and third cousins to have multiple streams from the Signature campaigns. In the long term, its a very good step for the forum. There was only so much that moderators could have done against the onslaught of spam posts.

Having said that, I have to agree that it does create a problem for those who have joined late. It doesn't change the fact that the senior members who were concerned about the post quality going down would also be the ones who will gradually realize that not all newcomers are shit posters.

It'll also give everyone the motivation to actually know about bitcoin so that they can post sensibly and not just "opinions and critiques" (which is what most of us actually have been doing as there is no incentive to be better from the technical viewpoint).

Your concern about people using bought accounts for their benefit will also find that they will be getting generous negative trust very fast. There will always be some people who will be hell bent on gaming the system. In time, it all comes out.

So don't be disheartened. Just try to make your posts as meaningful and filled with content as possible. For those with good technical knowledge or any other desirable characteristic, the system will eventually work out.
Everybody will just need to read a bit more. And provide credit where they feel its due.

Yes. I feel sad for low rank members aspiring and working hard and fair to be Seniors, Hero or Legendary one day. But like what they said, let's give it a try. Maybe things will get better in the coming days. There are a lot of adjustments and the whole bitcoin community were shocked by the new culture.

On the one hand, this is fine, and the new system should significantly reduce the number of young spammers on the forum, but, on the other hand, it is not very convenient for such ranks as mine. A week later I had to get a new rank and enjoy life, and now I'm staying for another two weeks, and it's not clear who will lay down my cherished "merits" or not Embarrassed

What concerns the novices so I do not imagine what kind of knowledge they need to have to write messages deserving points for growth in this community.

Controversial system, in my opinion. I'm almost sure that high ranks will not often try to like posts of newbie, but will pour glasses on each other (((
It smells of future discrimination and the future trade of "merit" on the black market Angry

I worked hard to earn my rank and now I'll sit here and wait for someone to like my text. Feeling like I was deceived ....

I actually understand what the OP is trying to say but I think this new merit system would also help newbies know and learn more about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, what is its purpose and why it is created. Which will really lessen spammers and farming accounts. So by the time they get to a much higher rank, they basically have knowledge and not asks repeated questions which you could actually just find on this forum. It's for our own sake and benefit so people should've think of this new change as something positive.

We don't want to help everyone.  Helping 'everyone' is dumb.  We want to help those who bring value (merit).  If you bring shit, you don't get helped.  Why should we be interested in helping everyone?  Should we help those who only bring garbage and spam to this website?

I'm not happy either. But rules are rules and we need to follow it. At least they are making ways to stop these shitpostings rather than just letting them let loose.

So, now my rank depends on others??  Some one else needs to give me merit if they think my post is merit worthy???  Is it not simply unfair to every one???

What happen if a post is good but no one gives merit???  This whole process is extremely unfair to say the least...

I like this new merit system because this discourages account farming. It will be too hard for a newbie to get out of its rank.

But I do not like it that older users are not that much affected by the merit system. Those who are new and do not have enough knowledge about bitcoin and its economy and system will carry most of the impact of the new system.
