yes of course spamming is almost anywhere , not just on this forum but also to other forums and social media sites as well but spamming or spammers can be easily identified and they will always get punished if they insist to continue thier bad doings . merrits on the other hand can be easily track or identified if someone trades them without any good reason because you can always check the profile of every users here along with their merrit statistics . 

deleting inactive users in this forum isnt also a good idea because what if someone is only on a vacation or they do have some important appointment which causes them to be inactive for quite some time . do you get what i mean ?

It is not easy but it is not good as well, because if a person get good earning with his own knowledge it will give him satisfaction but a person who will try to buy merit and will not work hard it will only spoil his image and people will not like him, so those who are here only to get money and want to buy merit for sake of money should not be welcome here, only hard working and sincere people can make this forum high and will increase knowledge of other people.

On the plus side, they could incentivize posters to try harder to make quality posts. It could be a good system in some respects.

It already started to have that effect I noticed after theymos's implementation of the Merit 'system'. In some cases it's very obvious that people are posting in a very forced manner to obtain a Merit or two, but at least they put time and effort into their posts, and that's something we can all be happy with, and especially so when we're a few months away from now. I am glad that theymos allocated his precious time to getting this Merit system up and running -- people for so long were complaining about theymos to not do anything about spammers, and now it shows that he does actually do something to prevent further spamming.

Not exactly the same, but the general idea is the same.

If merit already is for sale, so they will find a way to get merit in a spamming way. Or just have a discussion with themselves, giving merit for nothing.

I could barely dream of obtaining 10 merits to test advanced signatures, but bitcointalk is cruel and only old members have a chance to use all perks.

Another problem is when crypto goes popular there is too many new topics and users. I could understand all this merit system for the best of the forum, but still, have some doubts about its perfection. I'm totally not this kind of user, that will write an academic article and give "very precious advice" to everyone just to earn merit points.

But still how it possible that only legendary members obtain so much merit and don't want to give it away? Why you need soo much? What a genius way to stimulate user activities throughout the greed.

Not sure if this is talking about Legendary members in general, or specifically about me, but I'm #11 on the "Most generous merit senders" list. with 998 merits sent. Many active Legendary members give away plenty of merit.

For merit to be sale for them on bitcointalk account or it is a really mean. However, if such things now happen
in cryptosystem now it means that the admin of btc have to look into the matter.

Selling and buying merits means cheating and will cause your account to have red tag or worst ban. Let us be fair. Post constructively to earn merits points, that's the only way  earn merits points without cheating others and cheating yourself. Be more responsible.

I hope everybody would be fair about this new feature implemented by admin theymos.
This thread is for the purpose of awareness that merit is given to a constructive and quality post. I have made a thread here in the market place section, hoping that there will not be such things like buying and selling merits. Let's work with our own asses.

That's right. Buying and selling merit must be prohibited because merits are for the unique and quality post. It means that it must be constructed in our own words and ideas. Not copy and paste from others work. It's a form of plagiarism. Dont accept selling your merits guys. It is unfair for everyone.

Well, I visited the www.fiver.com website to see if this is true ( curiousity ). And I don't think that is a good place to buy merit and don't know what is the process to buy merit ( well, I don't need that kind of stuff ). Cause even if I only have 20 merits, I enjoy reading and having a good conversation around here in bitcointalk.org.

Having a constructive and useful topics can get merit. Merit is the point given to you if  your post become useful or meaningful. Yes merit is not for sale! Merit system is the best idea to minimize shit posts. Selling merit is not prohibited by the administration. For sure it is not for sale, we will have to make our own effort for making our merit to be high, if we will make good and valuable posts I am sure it will make our merit high, the person who use to share his own stuff can make good merit in forum than those who are here only to get money but not sharing useful of high quality stuff so better use our own brain and never ask to anyone for buying merit.

You have a problem with writing proper English, and after taking a look at your posts it's obvious that the only reason you're doing it is for your signature campaign.

I have pretty high standards when it comes to handing out merit, and unfortunately for the shitposters I take into account grammar, sentence structure, and even proper capitalization and punctuation--not that all posts have to be perfect, but if a post looks sloppily-written, I don't give it any merits.  If a post looks like it has little thought put into it, I also don't merit it.  And just FYI, your posts don't meet my standards, and they probably don't meet other merit-givers as well.

By the way, you've been a member since late 2015 so there's no excuse for you not ranking up or complaining about merits.
