The most important virtue of a leader should be Honesty. An honest leader can make things rights, place things where they need. A leader needs to be jolly minded to inspire his team properly. A good leader shouldn't be stubborn.

The quality of the leader greatly influences his followers. and I think the quality of a good leader is:
1. Be fair
2. honest / trustworthy
3. behave well, because he will be emulated.

I think the best qualities of a good leader is being a good follower, down to earth, thoughtful and self-less. We all know that people aren't perfect, we make mistakes, we have our flaws but if you have those qualities, it will make you a better person and an ideal leader. People will be fascinated at your attitude because they will feel the kindness in you.

A leader…

1. has to have ABSOLUTE INTEGRITY, or it does not matter what else he or she has.

2. has to be WILLING AND ABLE TO DO WORK, or it does not matter what else he or she has.
3. has to be OBJECTIVE.  If an executive could be described in one word, this would be it.

4. has to have LEADERSHIP, which is hard to define, but may be described as that quality in a person which makes others want to do what the leader wants them to do.

5. has COURAGE . I don’t want to get courage and bravery mixed up.  If a neighbor has a mean dog and you are not afraid to go in his yard, this is bravery.  If you are afraid but go in the yard anyway, this is courage.  Courage is what makes someon buy natural resources for the company’s use in poor times when acreage,or leases are cheap.

6. has IMAGINATION.  Most of the good things civilization has achieved are the result of somebody’s seeing, in his mind’s eye, how to do something better, or make something better.  Without imagination an executive cannot foresee the good things the future may hold.  Without imagination he is not able to put himself in another man’s place, which he must do.

7. MUST DELEGATE AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY if he does not do this, there is not enough time to accomplish a great deal.

8. MUST CHECK, AFTER THIS DELEGATION, TO SEE THAT RESULTS ARE OBTAINED.   The leader must have progress reports not only for his own information but also to gauge personnel in preparation for his next delegation of authority.

9.  MUST EVALUATE HIS TIME.  A busy person does not have time to explain carefully a directive to a subordinate, and in most cases tell him the reason why he wants it done.  Otherwise, it is likely to get all snarled up and have to be handled twice which a busy person does not have time to do.

10.  DOES THE IMPORTANT IN MOST CASES, INSTEAD OF THE URGENT. It is so easy to decide and handle the easy ones.  So often the temptation is to put aside a difficult decision until the easy ones are finished, in the hope that some additional easy ones come up to further postpone the important.

We, ourselves, can be leaders if we want to. A good leader should value the importance of his congregation. He should be a good example to his fellow people and should know how to follow rules first. A good leader should show care and love for his people so that people will do the same thing as well.

Being aspire to become an inspirational and effective leader, you must develop continuously work on yourself and improve your management skills. No one can starts as an effective leader, but you can aspire to improve your skills by learning what leaders do, and how they think and feel, and then by copying them until you become one yourself. I’ll discuss with you some qualities of successful leaders you can focus on to strengthen your leadership skills.

1. Effective Leaders Focus on Strengths

The first quality of effective leadership is the ability to focuses on strengths. They focus on the strengths in themselves and on the strengths in others. The fact of the matter is that strong people have far more weaknesses than they have strengths. You can never achieve greatness by compensating for your weaknesses. But you can become an outstanding person by identifying your areas of great potential strength and by then focusing all of your energies on becoming outstanding in those few areas.

2. A Leader is a Role Model

Another important quality of an effective leader is to be a role model, to be the kind of person that everyone else looks up to and wants to be like. Effective leaders carry themselves at all times, even when no one is watching, as if everyone was watching.
Leaders live in a goldfish bowl. Everyone is watching the individual in the leadership role. They are very aware of the impact of their words and gestures on the people around them. You must always be sensitive to the fact that everything you say or do is magnified times the people who report to you or look up to you for guidance. A positive remark from you to someone over whom you exert influence or control has inordinately positive effects. A negative remark or criticism has inordinately negative effects. Choose your words and your behavior with care.

3 Effective Leadership Requires Trust and Integrity

A third and perhaps the most important and respected leadership quality is integrity. It is the most required and most admired quality of all people, but especially of the effective leader. Trust is the quality that binds all relationships together. The willingness and ability to trust the people that you look up and report to is absolutely essential to your ability to perform at your very best. Sometimes, people come up to me at my seminars and tell me that they like their jobs but they don’t particularly like their bosses. I tell them, over and over, that one of the most important things you do, if you want to be successful at work, is to choose your boss with care. I have seen very few occasions where a person has been successful under a negative or dishonest boss with poor management skills. In most cases, you are wasting your life and your career by staying in a situation with a negative or untrustworthy person because the situation has no future.

Practice these qualities of the most successful and effective leaders to hone your skills for leadership success. Only by continuously improving on your skills will you gain the respect and admiration that you deserve.

Being honest can be tricky in politics. I personally know a few politicians, and they have told me that a politician can never be a honest person. One of his much required abilities is to be able to lie to the people in a natural manner.

Good communication skills allow the leader to be a better negotiator and conflict manager. Being able to effectively explain the circumstance and justify the decision taken not only makes team members feel more comfortable with the decision, but also view their leader as being more credible.
Also an important quality of a good leader is their authenticity; their ability to remain true to themselves, their beliefs, and their values. In fact, the good leader doesn't have to simply remain true to themselves, but they must also be able to transfer their values and beliefs to his/her team.

A qualified leader in my opinion is a person who can direct the ranks that exist beneath him towards a better / advanced. He would appreciate and be able to protect his subordinates. He does not blame the use of his position, even he does not feel if he is a leader but he positions himself as a co-worker who needs each other.
