Hi,
I was reading some articles about what was said at the Davos economic summit. See this quote below:
"The fact that the anonymity, the lack of transparency and the way in which it conceals and protects money laundering and financing of terrorism and all sorts of dark trades is just not acceptable," Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said during a panel talk in Davos earlier this week.

Any thoughts? Are there any new features or coins that overcome these problems?
How do we educate these people who keep talking like this?

Criminals have been using fiat currencies for ages, but they are not concerned about that.

This is just another excuse to take down bitcoin.
They claim that Bitcoin encourage money laundering and illegal traffic but with or without Bitcoin,these crimes will always be there since like you said fiat currency is untraceable too.
In general,cryptocurrency is hard to track and 99% of traceable cryptos are not decentralised so creating a traceable coin means creating something against the concept of cryptocurrency.

How would a coin overcome one of those things? Anonymity is something that is basically core to the entire crypto experience, it's not like there is something that needs to be fixed in relation to that. If they want people to be tracked then they can make everyone use digital banks and the like for their transactions. That way nothing will go unseen for the government and they can get the surveillance they want.

You can't "educate" people who say things like "Bitcoin is used by terrorists" etc, since it's an extrapolation as to what could happen with Bitcoin. It's like saying that "gold is used by terrorists", which it is to an extent, but you don't need to have any proof of the action occurring because it is a hypothetical. At the same time, though, they treat fiat like it is some infallible tool. A prime example of double standards.

I'm sick and tired of hearing this personally. She's just used the same excuse that everyone uses when trying to find a issue with Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general. It's always "It's anonymous and that means it will only by criminals". Bitcoin did get labeled in the early days as something that only nerds and criminals used, just because of it's involvement in The Silk Road.

The only counter argument that could be sent their way is that cash is used exactly the same way Bitcoin is. Cash is untraceable and is often used in underhand deals and the like. Does that mean everyone calls fiat currencies unacceptable because of this? No they don't. In fact her point is moot about Bitcoin and the lack of transparency because the last time I checked doesn't Bitcoin have a public ledger which shows all of the transactions which have ever been sent? A ledger which displays when new coins have been mined. Fiat currencies don't have this so you don't know when someone has moved anything or when new money has been printed off.

Today I learned;
- Fiat isn't used by criminals
- Fiat isn't funding terrorism
- Fiat is transparent

Clearly they are the officials who doesn't want their fiat to be touched by any other currency so that they can use it more in the negative activities! Or it could be the case that she is dam serious about it and taking the issue up front of every press she goes into. But Im pretty sure that this will take hell lot of time to overcome the crypto. They can not really go and regulate the whole crypto currencies because they are spread across the globe in crazy numbers. How many countries will you be able to get into this panel, will they all accept it? I don't think so!

There are no such coins which can overcome this problem. Even we came to know that the more the centralised stuff it is (Like XRP) the more vulnerable it is because of its regulations.

There is no way to stop these people but if big leaders take the initiative and shows some good qualities and how ti could be implemented into the national system then there might be chance we will at least get a meet up to talk over it. But hard to say.

So basically we are trying to disrupt established systems and they are not going to let that happen easily.
Best option is to educate people so that they adopt crypto.
