It's really interesting that an open-source project is capable of reaching this market value, in my eyes totally justified. Besides Unix, it's one of the most innovating open-source projects that exist today. I'm pretty sure that blockchain technology is going to be an important aspect of the current century, if it isn't already. I'm wondering what the value will be in 10 years, will it outreach Microsoft?

I am not a bit surprised. Once it managed to surpass the value of gold I knew that it will surpass everything  else eventually. Corporations are parasites which is why they will never equal the resolve of Bitcoin as the progenitor of blockchain technology.

yeah, surprising except the fact that market capitalization of a company does not mean the same thing as the market capitalization of a cryptocurrency, bitcoin in this case.
in fact Market Cap is a falsely imported factor in cryptocurrency world which is also being falsely used to compare them with companies and with each other.

That's a good research and great numbers for the crypto economy. Sadly they are going down and my BTC is a sick dead in my wallet.

That's the real fact. We are not even having proper regulation for the crypto currency. This is like so much open source that anyone can put money at anytime and take it out at anytime.

Manipulation can be done to overall market cap with no prior notice this making the prices and market cap very vulnerable to stay stable. That's why the volatility and stuff. Rest of the real world merchandise is pre set business with taxation and contribution to the country in other ways. So truly there is no comparison.

This even came in the news when the market of bitcoin grew almost close to the market of Nike or puma during the past peak price increase. Now the market has dropped, still the adoption has been happening. Moreover during the unexpected price increase the adoption was quite high and the same lead to large scale growth which has decreased drastically from the beginning of the year.

I get your point of course and I agree. It just means that much more education is needed, because the market cap is exactly what people refer to speaking of bitcoin bubble. It is very annoying that it is a very argument (mis-)used in official statements of central bank officials in my country. At least they should understand the difference, you would think.

You have a point, but on the other hand Bitcoin is not Dollar either. Bitcoin has no governmental support whatsoever, on the contrary it is constantly criticized by people from various governmental institutions, and yet it not only stays alive but gains more and more popularity. I think the facts from the OP are interesting and heartwarming, and although they might look like an astute manipulation of facts, they are not, because indeed it is a big achievement for a crypto currency to have a higher market value than of IBM or Disney.

I was surprised by the fact that I realized within a year of jumping in I had a debit cart so i can literally spend my bitcoin anywhere. It's quite amazing to think that what was once a fringe currency can now be used to do anything from buy a cup of coffee to paying for rent at an apartment. By far i think my most favorite thing are all of the low risk actual start ups that allow you to earn interest in the coin that is slowly becoming more rare over time. I hope i see far more surprises form down the bend. I'm sure they will be positive ones.

FYI this is not surprise anymore. I learned to realized back then, what coin valued 1k dollor, 2k and up only bitcoin. You're right in your statement that bitcoin surpassed some well know companies in the world such as what you mentioned and there's more. Bitcoin future is at hand to every business area.
