I might try casting a couple of these in silver. This is just a really quick mockup that took maybe 2 minutes, I'll play around with it a bit more later. Having a loaf of bread seems more appropriate than a round coin.

Mockup > 3D print > Sand mold cast. There would be a bit of texture to the bar, but that might just make it look grainy like bread hopefully?

Oh wow a silver loaf.  Salty how much silver would you think that it would be for the full loaf? Cheesy

That is a hilariously fun idea  Cheesy

Still likely not done, but a little more detail.

~ 2 inches (5.08cm) long
~ 1 inch (2.54cm) wide
~ 0.5 inches (1.252cm) tall

with three 15 degree slots cut ~ 3mm into the bar
and a 10mm x 10mm x 1mm square indent on the bottom to put a paper wallet in (might not be feasible)

and it would be just shy of 3 oz of silver. I could change a few minor dimensions to get it closer to 3 oz, but there would be a bit of variation regardless depending on how much polishing and finish work would need to be done.

Hey there!

I'm actually one of the guys mentioned in this thread who've made physical GRLC Coins. If ya'll are interested in picking some up stop on by my store
here > https://meme.shopping/products/garlicoin-coin-grlc-accepted-after-preorder

I'm not knowledgeable of holograms and that process as of yet, but I know how to get coins made and shipped!

It looks awesome. I'm going to order a few to help spread awareness of Garlicoin to my friends. Hopefully, this would make a nice addition to my physical cryptocurrency collection once it arrives. Now, if this was a DIY coin it would've even better. But, nonetheless it is a great collectible.  Cool

Thank you so much! I freakin love how supportive this forum is, its insane! Cheesy

On your website it seems that you've indicated depending on demand that you might make more.  Any chance we could get one side blank ?  You'll sell a whole lot more here (as I'm sure you've noticed).

THIS!

Consider it done! It might not be for a little while though. If you head to my site and sign up for my newsletter I'll make sure to let everyone know through there! (I'll do my best to post here as well!)

This ~3oz silver loaf is really taking off, I wouldn't mind seeing something different for a change and it's a required ingredient for garlic bread.  I'm excited and looking forward to the progression.  Cheesy

Will 3D print it tomorrow to see if I could make a decent mold from it. I wouldn't get my hopes too high yet, even if it works, they'll likely be slow to make, each will have some sort of imperfections, weights will probably vary a bit, and you wont be able to keep them nice and pristine like you can with a coin in an airtite. That said, I've got some poured silver bars and at least in my opinion, they are way more fun to handle and play around with than pretty coins pressed from blanks.

I'm sure they wont really be worth making, but I'll probably make a handful just for grins if its possible to get decent results.

so now to keep them pristine we'll need someone to make a garlic bread-shaped Air Tite lol  Wink

looking forward to seeing this  Cool

Requires a bit of cleanup of course, but

couple little bits to clean up with a brush/utility knife when it dries, but all in all not terrible. I didn't vapor smooth the positive because I kind of liked the tiny circular ridge pattern. Makes it look textured like bread.

Haha! I love it!

Salty, if you make these and they are semi reasonable in price i'll take at least one for sure.

thanks!

**edit: will you do it in .999 silver or other? I would personally prefer .999 over sterling for example Smiley

I'm going to give it a shot today or tomorrow. I've gotta cure the molds which takes forever, so I might as well make a couple. I'm going to do these in .999 silver, they'll tarnish, but whatever.

Tried out my molds today, they worked pretty well, I've got a few ideas for next time as well. Here are the unfinished pours (haven't been polished, sanded, buffed, etc)

will post when they are shiny and pretty later. They are ~82 grams each. Also a few other pictures for those interested. (It was raining while I was making them, which is not a good idea kids, stay in school!)

Nice job Salty.  I know how difficult and stressful what you're attempting to do can be.  Glad to see you're sticking with it!

Thanks for the kind words  Grin

Getting it perfect is stressful, I'm just seeing how it comes out along the way. If it works out well, great. If not, I'll just melt them back down and try again.

Anyway, here is the result after course buffing and a bit of detailing. Its not perfect, but its got a lot of work left to go, and the hand feel is actually really pleasant. The little bit of texturing makes it feel less like a die struck coin, and more pirate treasurish with the grainy context of bread working with it. Anyway, now I'm onto the fine buffing, then tumbling/burnishing and finally I'll see about rubbing them with a bit of renaissance wax.

I love it Salty! Keep it up! I prefer the poured bars over the clean blank ones.. Lesbian Cow recently got me in to appreciating the uniqueness and rich character that the poured bars actually have.

I will buy your loaf sir!
