How motivate yourself to work?

I remind myself how satisfied I'll be once I do whatever I'm considering doing. I treat my future self as if it were a separate person that I really want to please, and make every preparation to make "future me" a happy person. I constantly feel the effects of what I did to make "future me" happy, so I am always presently happy.
