I mean if you're investing in the USD, you're not going to be investing in the currency itself. You're going to be investing in bonds that are supporting the government that is backing the USD, the US government would be this entity. Those have pretty low returns, though if you need safety or protection against inflation (TIPS bonds) this could be the best option for you.

I wouldn't though, that's just me in my situation though.

Im not getting the core point here. Why would you relate both the worlds in first place! The circulation for the bitcoin is fixed and whatever prices it is getting is getting because of the fiat currency only. If BTC = $1 and the market value for that currency drops then it doesn't really mean a lot to the BTC because after that also the BTC is $1 and whenever you will sell it, it will become the 1 USD only. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Its not really investing into the fiat currency but its the output of the BTC sell in terms of specific value which it had at the time of sell. Later you can utilise the same currency in the real world and everything is bought according to their value. So its like defined values everywhere.

The best idea is hold your money in different currencies (including criptocurrency) and hold in different places. Following this way you will minimize risk to loose money

- the core point is that you have an X amount of currency that you have to allocate somewhere. If you allocate in fiat currency, you are guaranteed to have less purchasing power in the future

- if you consider buying bitcoin investing, why dont you consider buying fiat investing ?

Of course you can invest in a fiat currency. I invested a few thousand dollars in a US current account because I thought the dollar would be more stable than Sterling during all the Brexit nonsense. I didn't buy bonds because bonds aren't as liquid, and have a greater risk because of the possibility of bank bail-ins. I've closed my dollar account, because I don't believe the dollar has a sustainable future any more. This is because of the massive debt mountain that is dragging it down. I've been transferring my dollar holding into .com domain names, and over the next few months I will be selling those for Bitcoin. I think Bitcoin is a much better long term investment, but you do need to be able to ride the coming "corrections". Some of those are likely to be fairly substantial in my opinion. But these will represent good opportunities to increase investment in Bitcoin.

You can always choose to sell BTC for another crypto. In this case, you are not investing in fiat. There is USDT when you want to temporary sell your BTC for. But I totally agree that holding BTC is the best.

Reason is simple. We can't sustain life with digital numbers on computer, no matter whether these numbers increase or decrease.

One need money regularly for various daily needs. Especially when someone earning much of his earnings in the form of crypto. Also fiat money isn't investment, it is completely utility token so we can't consider in inflation factor.

LOL, yeah as far as investment and money hunger goes, you invest in bitcoin just to get the profit. but to answer your title i have to say yes in times you invest in USD.

i live in a country with a bad economy these days and USD price went up nearly 20% in the past month (or you can say local currency tanked!) and people have been investing in USD here to get something out of this disaster...

There is a FOMO brewing...

At some point you will still have to trust the fiat system to meet your needs because that is the only way you can only enjoy the btc you have pending the time  that bitcoin will be accepted as a mainstream currency. What is there is just that one should only convert what is being needed at the moment to fiat while you keep the other as asset. Aside that, converting to fiat to keep the value can also work out if you don't keep in cash and cash equivalents rather in investing activities most fixed assets.

I would not do it, but my father does invest in legit money, specifically in dollars. What happens is the same, the forms of investment are different for a person living in the United States than for a person living in Colombia. In Colombia, the dollar has a considerable monthly increase, while in the United States it is more feasible to invest in cryptocurrencies than in a currency that is traditional or in some other.

Newbie OP..what sort of education do you have under your belt to make such claims ? This is absolutely false and a waste of everyone’s times. As a licensed financial guy I can assure anyone this is not true. Fiat currency is traded daily in the markets, if it was only going down than no one would invest in it. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

It depends on your situation. If you are a conservative investor, you might want to look for the low-risk investments with low

volatility. If you are more aggressive and a risk taker, you invest in things with a higher risk, like Crypto currencies. Your

situation will determine your appetite for risk. {If you have lots of disposable wealth, then you might be looking for

investments with a bit higher risk... because you can afford to take little knocks with low investment amounts.  Wink

I wouldn't invest in  fiat currencies, it is not very promising compared to crypto currencies. Investing in crypto currencies is much more profitable, since their prices are rising fastly and the demand for them become higher recently.
Fiat money have low value and their prices are too volatiles, but rising so slowly.

All investments can generate income and loss. No matter you make these investments in Fiat or cryptocurrency. Income you bring not a currency. Income you bring to the project. Now for example the people who kept the dollars are losing their savings due to the depreciation of the dollar. Those who kept the cryptocurrency, too, are losing their savings due to the depreciation of the cryptocurrency. Ready-made recipes to make a profit does not exist.

yes, I agree with you that the fiat of today can no longer be used as a currency value, in addition to high inflation, people also have start to saturate, because of its passive value.
but you also have to consider when you leave the fiat and move to crypto or bitcoin, then there is a big risk that you have to fight.

So far, every fiat currency in the world is inflationary. It will always decrease in value overtime in the long run. Its a guaranteed loss !

Whenever you sell bitcoin, you are buying a fiat currency; making sure you will lose in the long run

TLDR: JUST HODL BTC

Inflation is always relative to something else. If you simply had BTC and never used it then the price would never matter, you have to be comparing its price to something. Realistically most people at some point will want to spend the value they have in BTC, the easiest way to do this is to convert it to FIAT.

USD is already in its final stage to enjoy as the global reserve currency. It has already enjoyed 70 years the privilege as global reserve currency. If it had been the period just like before eight years,we had no other choice to invest except USD or gold. But now, most of us consider cryptos as the ultimate choice.

It does not make sense for anyone to chose USD or any other fiat currency which is subject to deflation in this crypto world.More over, investors would better feel to stay away from the government radar by investing in cryptos instead of investing in fiat currencies.

That's true but if you put that money in a savings account or a CD, you earn interest, offsetting the inflation. So I wouldn't always say that holding fiat is bad. I think it is necessary. Also all places accept fiat but not all places accept cryptocurrency, so holding fiat gives you liquid cash that is taken everywhere. But I do understand your point in the potential of cryptos for the long run over simply holding fiat. Right now both have their place in society.

Actually I have the local fiat included in my investment plan as well. Of course over time it is going to be eaten up by inflation.
But it is available immediatelly and it is accepted everywhere in my area. Those are advantages that might come in handy one day.
And the inflation losses are manageable in my country.

I never try forex trading I’m more on stocks and cryptocurrency and I’m already contented with this two market. We can invest any where as long as you want it but of course you still have to study everything because risk is everywhere and I think forex trading is highly volatile and not good for a newbie.

I really believe in your statement, if i'm gonna sell btc it's like i'm buying price of fiat and it's worthless for me though We use fiat for buy and sell things. but in the long run fiat money will decrease because there's no back up for that. i know gold still the precious material we have but in our era cryptocurrency will overtake any currency in the world.

I'm agree with you. I want to invest on bitcoin, litecoin, bitcoin-cash, eth. Buying this coin and hold for long term give me huge profit. Because this coin is so much potential and good coin. This coin give me more profit than USD. Day by day this coin prices are increasing.  So without any hesitation I choose crypto currency for investment.

To me i think that those people who know the importance of bitcoin they will surely invest money in bitcoin and other altcoins as compare to USD, because the income that we can get from bitcoin or some other altcoin we even cannot think about to get from USD, In fact USD is so much stable and there can only be a very slight increase in its price therefore we even holding USD for a long time cannot get such a big amount from it.

I find that your opinion is correct, as it is now if we sell cryptos that means we buy into fiat currency. The current money has very high inflation so the exchange rate will be reduced over time. Though, the difficulty here is that cryptos are not accepted as an official currency to use in every transaction so we still have to buy fiat currencies to be able to trade everything for personal needs. If future cryptos are accepted, then I will hold and not convert to fiat currencies.

I invested and will invest too in future. But I did it differently. I was a miner once and I bought mining hardware by fiat money as I had no crypto coin that time and was paying electric bill through fiat too. But Crypto is volatile and now a days it become more volatile than ever. So I will not prefer new investment by fiat unless I get possible potential coin at lowest price

I guess he means buying usd not investing in it.
By buying bonds you are investing in the country and it's government. You rely on it to make the right decisions. If they for instance go to war and lose, your bonds and the currency that you bought will be worthless.
If you buy the currency you're in a way investing in it too. That's what forex traders are doing. Buying a currency in hope that it will gain value in relation to other currencies.

So, bonds are bonds, currencies are currencies.

The reason why people sell Bitcoin is because they still need flat currency to buy things that Bitcoin cant buy just for example basic needs of people like food, clothes and shelter. You also need to survive to be able to hold Bitcoin or make money in Bitcoin.

I think if we're talking about investment as such, it must be something that is developing and has a potential. It is such a situation with cryptocurrencies,  USD isn't developing now, as long as it's been existing since 1861. By buying USD you can just support its existence, but what's the profit? It will only help governments to control people's money.

I personally not going to choose USD or any other fiat currency for investment purposes, because i know that they have very stable price and a very small fluctuation can be observe in their price, instead i will like to invest my money in altcoins where we can choose such altcoin who have more potential and their price are expecting to increase too much.
