I am sorry if there is already a thread dicussing this topic, I was not able to find it here.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-30/crypto-exchange-bitfinex-tether-said-to-get-subpoenaed-by-cftc

Tether has been fraudulently issued for a while, it's not news, but what about the outcome for bitfinex? The charges can be very severe, wouldn't they kill one of the largest exchanges?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

so many people have been talking about this for months, if not years. Bitfinex'ed is a great source on twitter. People FUD out but then BTC Rebounds. It's always a rollercoaster.

I was following these investigations by enthusiasts since summer 2017, but now it is not by enthusiast or amateurs, it's by CFTC which can result in a very serious hit
