i think it is time for the following announcement:
should bitcoin ever reach 1000,- $ it is time for an international, mind-blowing, monomentous, crazy PARTY of members of the bitcoin forum. it will take place in one of the banking highrises in frankfurt/germany and it will be huge, wild and unforgettable. we all work "very hard" while probably getting rich, or at least dreaming about it. after all this "hard work" we need some "hard" partying. the bankers need to get used to the fact that we are dancing on their roofs!
-when it reaches 1000,- $ it will only cost a bitcoin or two for anyone to pay a flight to frankfurt.
-it is time for getting to know each other in person.

bitcoin itself and this forum especially can be a fun hobby. we have the impression that, with all those serious discussions/fights, the fun part is sometimes somewhat missing. the
when-bitcoin-reaches-1000 $-party is 100% dedicated to the FUN part !
the following are proposals only and we are open for suggestions. planning an event for 500 or 1000 people is not possible with complete consent on every little detail, so relax. the most important thing will be to have a hell of a party with all of you, being staged in a professional and secure manner. if you really really hate this idea
just fuck off keep counting your precious coins and polish your lone wolf image...
timing/trigger
our current plan is to play it this way: everything should get armed and ready to rumble within the next coming weeks and months. as soon bitcoin reaches 1000 $
and stays there for 30 days in a row (bitstamp $ 24 h average) this will be our trigger. since everything has been set up during the waiting period, after ignition triggers we will only need 6 -8 additonal weeks to actually unleash this monster.

size
first goal is to sell 500 tickets. if it turns out that more people like the idea and want to pass out with us, we will consider so sell 500 additional tickets, making it a party of 1000 intelligent, handsome & wealthy btc-fans. the first 500 tickets will be sold in 5 batches of 100 tickets. ticket sale will start in december 2013.
what to expect
there will be a customer service (email) if you have questions you do not want to discuss in this thread. on the days around the party there will be a hotline available for you. once you step out the airport building there will be a shuttle service that brings you to your hotel and later to the venue (the driver will supply you with a mask if you don´t want to be exposed to media when entering the battlefield). at the party you will be welcomed like a celebrity, including stretch limo, red carpet, cheering fans... professional security will guard the event. inside there will be a public section, also open for media, maybe some booths where bitcoin projects and sponsors can be met and registration.
the larger section will be kept strictly private, non-commercial, no media, no cameras. a luxurious 5 star catering will spoil everyone until late, several bars will serve class a drinks, all kinds of booze all night long (all included). there will be artists, an international dj line-up on several floors and a main event with some superstar (suggestions for superstar/dj are welcome). expect a chill out area, and of course you be able to get online. the program will include an event concerning charity. the shuttle service will bring you back to your hotel (or directly to the airport when you are serious party animal)
flights
after trigger is reached you will have 6 to 8 weeks for flight reservations. there are services available that sell airline tickets for btc – maybe we can get one of them to become sponsor of our party and get specail rates for you. airfare is not included in party ticket.
hotels
to use the purchasing power of 1000 guests we will come up with hotel packages in different price levels with partnering hotels in order to get best rates for you. we plan to include basic accomodation with ticket purchase, but calculations are not done yet, so it is not for sure if this works out. of course you can also book the hotel of your choice yourself, the offered packages are not mandatory, they are designed to save you time and coins.
anonymity
We are not sure if this is an important feature for you, but in case it is we will provide all services around the party and the party itself in a way that we do not need to know your id. hotels in germany though will demand proper id. we will not have access to hotel guest information. if you do not care about us knowing who you are you can short-cut the registration procedure at the venue since we could send your ticket to your home adress in advance.
bitcoin-only event
we will put he greatest effort in making this event
completly fiatless. we will accept only btc as payment and we will try to only use btc for all expenses. let´s see if a david guetta takes btc...

there will be an awful lot of people working for/at this epochal event (shuttle, registration, security, catering, bars, service, hotline, technical support for wifi network, stage/pa/light setup, entertainers, guides, and many more...), so contracts need to made in advance.
refund
if the party doesn´t take off, since btc will not reach 1000 $ we will refund the tickets. we are currently thinking of giving this bird until either end of 2015 or end of 2016 (latest) to fly. in addition, when there are less then 100 tickets sold, we will cancel the party and refund.
gender distribution
it is a sad fact that more than 90 % of the current bitcoin enthusiasts are male. a forum member wrote „a party isn´t a party if there are only males“. we are aiming at a 50/50 gender ratio and are collecting ideas how to achieve this. since there will be some superstar/dj/band booked for the main stage and since we are considering free admission for ladies and since frankfurt has a large party/nightlife community this is a solvable task, so don´t worry.
where will it take place ?
the original idea was frankfurt/main. some forum members suggested berlin as an alternative and we are considering having a vote carried out about this. due to the fact that no exact date can be pulled out of anyone’s ass, it will be very likely that the event will not be staged at regular venue, since they are booked out way in advance. a special venue will be more complicated to arrange but will also have a special flair. think of a bank highhrise rooftop party or a renaissance castle, we will try to come up with something extraordinary.
will reddit bitcoin folks be allowed ?

who are we ?
The btc-1k party is promoted by 600watt and cheech300, which are both severly infected with the bitcoin virus since 2011 and march 2013. (edited)... both have staged several +1000 attendants events in the past and know what to expect. they will team up with an experienced local promoter to get details covered.
the team is strentghened by bulleric, bitcoin enthusiast since 2011 and webdeveloper. bulleric is one of the founders of the frankfurt bitcoin-community and will create our website.
