Hello everyone

I am building a GPU rig with nitro amd rx 580 8G cards.

The connection of the card for the electricity source is an 8 + 6 pin plug. I have purchased an EVGA 1200W power supply where 4 VGA cables are terminated with 6 + 2 ( 8 ) pins and 2 VGA cables with 6 + 2 ( 8 ) pins plus 6 pins. By default the power supplies come with these VGA cables. So I can only connect 2 cards with the 2 VGA cables of 6 + 2 ( 8 ) pins plus 6 pins.

My question is: Can I connect the rest of the cards with the rest of VGA 6 + 2 ( 8 ) pins? or the cards will not work ?.

In the case of I need more VGA cables with 6 + 2 ( 8 ) pins plus 6 pins, where can I buy without needing to buy additional power supplies ?.

Thanks for your help

you just need to buy some splitters like this one

https://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-Video-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Supply/dp/B00A3OVG4W/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1518955166&sr=8-13&keywords=pcie+8pin+splitter

Thank you for your answer leonix007

I imagine that these splitters are used to connect 2 cards to a single VGA cable ...

The question is whether to operate the nitro rx 580 8G cards in a stable way, it is necessary to connect 8 pin + 6 pin, or with 8 pin it is sufficient.
I just read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/6dvm5f/rx580_8pin_or_68pin/

and they say that it's enough to connect 8 pin,

Does anyone know something?

It should connect all power cables to the GPU, GPU will not start properly without all additional power cables connected

When you use an adapter/cable splitter of any type you should check it's temperature just by finger. If it becomes hot under the load - DON'T use this adapter/splitter.

No, the cards won't start if you will plug them as 8pin +6pin, you have to use 8pin + 8pin.
but there is a way, just shorten last 2 pin in the socket where 6pin plug is, you can do it, cause those 2 pins are ground, just google about it
