How to avoid useless posts ?

Pretty much every thread in the general discussion has a post from a bounty account that posts only to increase their postcount

Threads and posts are seriously like this..

thread: "will bitcoin rise in price ?"

posts: "bitcoin is an old cryptocurrency blablablablablablabla and i believe bitcoin price will reach XXXXXXX this year" (believe so much that dont buy, but spam posts to get bounties worth few cents of shit coins"

its pretty much impossible to have a productive thread when the posts are not even related. You come up with a point during a thread but no one even read it.. they just open the thread and click reply and write lots of lines (because short replies are not well seen) without even taking in consideration whats been going on in the thread

how can we have a productive forum ? will bitcointalk have to end bounty deals ?

Merit is designed with the intention of trying to tackle this but it will take some time. I think the biggest change will come when signature campaigns start to only accept members plus (yes I see that happening because JR's can no longer have links in their signatures). At that point it will be pointless posting on an account below member unless it's something constructive. Of course there will still then be many members+ who are in signature campaigns but it will certainly be a start.

The thing is, some Member rank and even up to Sr Member rank also post useless reply for signature bounty sake.
Merit will definitely help for accounts level Jr Member and below but those with Member rank and above, I don't see Merit as an effective solution to get rid of useless post from existing higher ranked member.

You are so wrong. One user has found farming rings of 60 accounts with large number of junior member accounts, and for a month of shitposting farming rig collected tokens worth more or less 100,000$.

Merit won't fix this - only moderation can. I've been campaigning for more moderation in the Frog Pond for some time.

Move some threads to a speculation board, or to an alt board, or the political board. Close the long-tail rubbish threads that have become spam fests. If this is done, then decent threads will have a chance to start some discussions, and maybe it will lead to the return of some of the valuable posters who don't bother to post any more.

I understand it by introducing a new system of "Merit", the forum management wanted to overcome a large amount of spam and flooding in messages))
But what they probably did not plan, is that after the innovations, absolutely any topic will be flooded with messages connected, one way or another with "Merit"!

Of course it's not, and especially on bitcointalk where 30% of accounts are alts and 80% are garbage shitposters.  But at least it's a system that might do some good.

Merit can't really be a solution to eliminate or reduce shit posts but it can delay ranking up of forum members who are making shit posts just to reach quotas in signature campaigns. I think this merit thing is really useful to people who exert effort in posting replies with constructive words and they really deserve to rank up by giving them merit points but, totally eliminating shit posts is really hard to do and yes reporting shit posts are the only solution to lessen shit posts as well as shit posters.

One of the ways to do this to start using ignore function for users making such posts. But I think it is not practical. Many users might be making those posts just to complete the activity and may improve the quality in future. Using the ignore function on those users will mean that you will not be able to see those quality pots in future as well. May be the merit system helps in this regard, too soon to judge.

You're right most bounties don't require minimum posts per week, only Signature campaign requires that.
The moderators and op have the powers to delete spam posts from threads and I think also ban the spammer in some cases.
So what more can be done other than those?

You don't need to be doing more when you don't even know the effects of properly doing that. These threads aren't being trashed as often as they should be, nor are farmed accounts being handled as often as they should be. It took me a lot of nagging to get cases of either one handled in the past.

As we all know that somehow we end up replying to threads like that once in a while.
Though it's like replicas of the ones before or contain thousands of replies already but No Day is alike and everyday might have new circumstances. That is why some might post another similar topic or still replies to such threads.

If somehow you suggest to trash it all, then everyone's activity will go down along with the rankings which we will be facing the consequences of gaining merits.

I suggest that for people who will be posting me threads, try to make one with a good information and not just buy updating that IT FELL or WILL IT RISE.

To remove the bounties from the forum will be the only effective solution but it will not going to happen.
Implementation of merit system was a good step against this problem, to restrict the new spammers on the lower rank but still it is not the ultimate solution.
These shit topics are usually originated form the new comers with at lower ranks. Once before i proposed an idea for the solution which was to restrict the newbies to start a new thread except the beginners and help section,

It's subjective. A constructive post is (IMO) a post that adds to the conversation/answers a query whilst still having effort put into it.
It's difficult to define, however it is not difficult to distinguish. Low quality posts tend to repeat things that have already been said (either in the thread or in their post) to stretch out their post length/count, or say things that have no relevance to the thread /conversation (E.G saying something like 'I hope the price stays high' in a Speculation thread).

Members has different thoughts about the  constructive post; but a post that can be creative and add value  can be a good start.

Merit will only stop people mass farming as many accounts as they like. It also doesn't stop older members who already have achieved enough merit either and believe me there's a lot of senior and hero member shitposters. I think the main issue now is clamping down on poorly run campaigns and their managers as it's their fault we're in such a mess in the first place. If campaign managers did their job properly and only paid for quality posters and posts then the forum would clean itself up pretty fast. It's only because we have crapcoin campaigns with little to no management that we're in such a predicament. Punish those campaigns and their managers and you'd soon notice the difference.
