I never wanted them to vote    i always thought they should be worried about education..
But some young 16 year old girl said a few things that made me change my mind about the youth voting ..

A young 16 old said the FACT  only 1.5 million 16 to 17 year old in the UK so how many will actually vote she said not many BUT even if all the youth voted to remain it still wouldn't of changed the result..

Now after her a 16 year old black girl saying that i thought wow i never would of thought like that

Now if you think about it i thinks only the smart kids vote       the well educated 16 to 17 year old will vote all the rest want to party and have fun and don't care for politics ..

Whao! That is good. For my country, eligibility age for voting starts from 18 years. anyone below this age are not even allowed to register for the voters cars let alone voting.

I don't think that this is going to be beneficial to the society. 16/17 year olds are quite immature, and they won't be able to make the right choice. If they are given a chance to vote, then the votes of the remainder of the population will get diluted and in the end wrong candidates will end up getting elected.

Well, what's wrong with that? I do not think that since 16 years it's early. On the contrary, 16 years is the best question.

The fact that it's good I fully agree with you. And about the fact that in your country can be from the age of 18, I hasten to upset you this is almost everywhere.

I think that 16-17 is too early, and even 18 (the age of official maturity in lots of countries) is a bit early as well. People of this age most likely do not yet have enough experience to make accurate decisions on the future of the country. More over, many of them are still under the influence of their parents, so the decisions made at the age of 16-18 have the chance to be not that personal.

What we all must accept is humans are evolving and rapidly. How we lived at 16 or 17 is not the way current generation lives.

There is one major problem with youth voting in developing countries. Remember, DEVELOPING countries.

Those countries have a proven record of faking elections, so sabotaging the votes of youth could work well there. They need to be well trained and well prepared, otherwise some may come say hey, why don't you vote for this party, I will give you a free coupon in a restaurant for that. In developing countries that method works, believe me!  Undecided

Otherwise, it's a great idea for the well-established democracies!   Smiley

I agree on that , but some teenagers use voting for fun. And on the other hand , I as a teen need to hear our pain or what we want. Because we the new or the nest generation will improve and make a better world. On my country only 18 but despite the age we all wanted to vote for the next leader. So I approved and my thoughts are despite the age as I say but the fact is us young teenager we see our leaders , we need to unite.

This doesn't apply to countries who heavily rely on the internet for news. Our country is a good example. The mind of a 16-17 year old can easily be manipulated by the things he/she can hear or see. A person on that age will just idolize people who were just famous and most likely they will vote that person. It's not that they are not aware but they just don't get the things that were happening around them. They are just too young and inexperience but it doesn't mean that they don't know anything.

Ohh dear, give them the vote when they can buy cigarettes or alcohol and not before, yes this means kids could buy cigs and booze. I was once a kid who bought cigs and booze regularly... They are trying to introduce a national ID card via the back door, and it is being rejected Wink

16 to 17 voting , first of all there is advantages and disadvantages of it I promise , because as a teen I see some just using it for fun , and it's our behavior to do such thing as fun and thrill. And some are good and I think they will put a lot of effort and serious to vote , but I think it's more suitable to some higher ages cause 16 to 17 they will just use it for fun.

This is pretty obvious that 16 an 17 years old teenagers are not mature enough to vote. Because , they do not even know themselves. They cannot make their mind right to vote. I do not think teenagers have some political views. For that reason, this is not beneficial for society.

The voting of 16 to 17 year old youth only make impact in countries that allows free and fair election but in country like mine that some group of people decides who will win election I think it is waste of time to even think of voting.
