Hi All;

After experiencing regular hangs/crashes using different miners (Claymore, Nicehash) I reviewed the system with HWINFO.

I have narrowed it down to GPU Errors being generated after applying Timing Patch. Orig BIOS gives no errors. BIOS with timing patch gives MILLIONS of errors.

Final Config:

Windows 10 Pro
ATIWINFLASH 277
Polaris BIOS Editor

BioSTAR BTC MoBo
Biostar BETA Mining BIOS
ASUS Strix RX580 8GB - connected directly to onboard PCI slot

Claymore Miner
Nicehash Miner

System has 5 other identical GPUs - all running BIOS modded with timing patch and zero errors

Any ideas/suggestions?

Stefan

You could try re-mod and re-tuning your bios card. Which strap are you copied? also which PBE you are using to modified your card bios? if you are using the old version of PBE, it means you have copied the strap manually. PBE 1.6.2 will copy strap 1750, PBE 1.6.6 will copy strap 1500.

I used the PBE 1.6.6, used the "one click timing patch" button.

I reapplied original BIOS. It ran with no errors.

I remodded, using the same procedure (checked the straps with the other cards as well. All identical)
Reapplied the modded BIOS. MILLIONS of errors again.

Put it back to original BIOS. NO ERRORS

I am thinking to manually copy the 1750 strap and trying again🤔

All the other modded cards are running at >29MH/s, with the unmodded running >24MH/s. But at least running error free, so hoping no crashes

mod your bios by yourself manually
try a different straps combination
Copy 1750-2000 then try mining and check for errors
if its not ok , then
Copy 1625 to 1750 and to 2000 then try mining and check for errors
if its not ok
Copy 1500 to 1625 and 1750 to 2000 then try mining and check for errors
I have a few Nitro+ RX 580/ 8GB Special Edition cards Smiley some of them like different timings than most of them.
some working fine with 1750-2000 , some working error free with 1625-1750-2000 ,some more stable with 1500 to 1625 and 1750 to 2000

Find you cards "sweet spot" its going to take some effort , but later you will appreciate your hard job Smiley , you going to have a stable system Wink
make sure before every bios flash , you resetting all overclocking/undervolting settings to default

TX xxcsu.

That is now my plan for next week.

I have the same ASUS cards as in your pic (total 5 in this rig), as well as 1 Sapphire Nitro+ - same as yours, just less number of them Smiley
